FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE/FUTURE PROGRESSIVE TENSE
penyusunan kalimat Future Continuous Tense/Future Progressive Tense:
▪ RULE (Rumus)
Future Continuous Tense/Future Progressive Tense
+ S + will/shall be + V-ing + O/Adverb
- S + will/shall + not + be + V-ing + O/Adverb
? Will/shall + S + be + V-ing + O/Adverb
1
▪ FUNCTION (Fungsi):
a. Mengungkapkan bahwa sebuah kegiatan akan sedang dilakukan pada suatu waktu di masa depan
ketika kegiatan lain terjadi. Untuk fungsi yang pertama ini perlu diketahui juga rumus Simple Present
Tense karena nanti kalimatnya akan digabung:
Simple Present Tense
+ S + V1 (s/es) + O/Adverb
- S + do/does + not + V1 + O/Adverb
? Do/Does + S + V1 + O/Adverb
Catatan:
Akhiran s/es ditambahkan pada verb jika subjeknya She, He, It dan 1 name/noun tapi hanya dalam
kalimat Positif. Berikut ini tabel rincian penambahan Akhiran s/es pada verb:
Maka jika kedua kegiatan tersebut digabung menggunakan kata sambung “when” dalam kalimat
Future Continuous Tense akan menjadi seperti berikut:
b. Memiliki makna yang sama dengan Simple Future Tense (menunjukkan kegiatan akan dilakukan di
masa yang akan datang) jika keterangan waktu yang digunakan ialah waktu yang tak terbatas seperti
soon (segera). Berikut ini rumus Simple Future Tense:
+ S + will/shall + V1 + O/Adverb
- S + will/shall + not + V1 + O/Adverb
? Will/shall + S + V1 + O/Adverb
e.g.
Future Continuous → She will be coming soon.
Maknanya sama dengan:
Simple Future → She will come soon.
Sama halnya dengan materi sebelumnya, pada materi ini juga kalian harus bisa bertanya dan
menjawab pertanyaan sesuai konteks yang diberikan serta menggunakan unsur kebahasaan yang
benar. Untuk bertanya, kalian bisa menggunakan:
▪ kata tanya “what” (apa) dengan jawaban berupa informasi sesuai konteks
▪ auxiliary “will/shall be” (apakah), jawaban berupa “ya” atau “tidak” sesuai konteks
Baik menggunakan “what” ataupun “will/shall be”, kalian harus sesuaikan dengan subjectnya. Simak
ilustrasi contoh berikut.
Look at the pictures below. (Perhatikan gambar-gambar di bawah ini.)
