E. Bilangan Berpangkat

Pola kalimat: to + the ordinal number + power

Contoh:

 Eight to the second power is 64 (Delapan pangkat dua sama dengan 64)
 Five to third power is 125. (Lima pangkat tiga sama dengan 125)
 Seventy-eight to the twenty first power is ... (Tujuh puluh delapan pangkat dua
puluh satu adalah ...)
 What is ten to the third power? (Berapakah sepuluh pangkat tiga?)
 What is one hundred to the fourth power? (Berapakah seratus pangkat empat?

Notes:
 Istilah square diterjemahkan dengan pangkat dua atau kuadrat, dan cubic
diterjemahkan dengan pangkat tiga atau kubik.

 Ungkapan raise to a power diterjemahkan menjadi dipangkatkan.

F. Penulisan angka ratusan

100 = “one hundred” / “a hundred”.

Dalam British English (Britania), ejaan 100-999 menggunakan “and” di antara bilangan
ratusan dan puluhan atau satuan. Untuk bilangan puluhan, kita tetap menuliskannya
menggunakan tanda hubung “-“.

Contoh:
601: six hundred and one
555: five hundred and fifty-five

Sedangkan dalam American English (bahasa Inggris Amerika), penulisan di antara

ratusan dan puluhan atau satuan tidak menggunakan “and”.

Contoh:
601: six hundred one
555: five hundred fifty-five
G. Penulisan angka ribuan

1000 = “a thousand” / “one thousand”

British English biasanya mengeja angka ribuan dengan “thousand”.

Contoh:
9,876: nine thousand, eight hundred and seventy-six
5,432: five thousand, four hundred and thirty-two

Sementara itu American English biasanya mengeja angka ribuan dengan “hundred”.
Contoh:
9,876: ninety-eight hundred, seventy-six
5,432: fifty-four hundred, thirty-two

H. Penulisan angka yang sangat besar

1,000,000 : one million atau a million (satu juta)

1,000,000,000 : one billion atau a billion (satu milyar)
1,000,000,000,000 : one trillion atau a trillion (satu triliun)

Contoh:
3,567,890 : three million, five hundred and sixty-seven thousand, eight hundred and
ninety
5,607,300,203: five billion, six hundred and seven million, three hundred thousand, two
hundred and three
