ABSTRAK
ABSTRACT
Osmoregulation is the process of regulating fluid concentration by balancing the inflow and
outflow of body fluids by living cells or organisms, or regulating the osmotic pressure of body
fluids that are appropriate for life so that physiological processes in the body run normally. can
survive in its environment. Practicum observation of the process of osmoregulation aims to
observe the effect of different salinities on the osmoregulation process of water (fish and shrimp).
The observation method used in the osmoregulation process practicum is direct observation to
determine fish behavior towards changes in different levels of salinity, namely, 0, 15, 30, 45, and
60 ppt, with the object of observation being freshwater fish and seawater fish organisms. The
results obtained in this practical are freshwater fish organisms placed at 0 ppt salinity that have a
silent behavioral response at the bottom of the jar. Saltwater fish placed at 15 and 30 ppt had a
silent behavioral response at the bottom of the jar. Seawater fish that are placed at a salinity of 45
ppt have a behavioral response facing down and are active at the bottom of the jar. Seawater fish
that are placed at a salinity of 45 ppt have a behavioral response facing down and are active at
the bottom of the jar. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that each organism has a
different behavioral response at different levels of salinity.
