General Qualifications
1. Participants must currently be elementary or
junior high school students.
2. The participants will be divided into 4
groups:
 Group A: Grades 1-2
 Group B: Grades 3-4
 Group C: Grades 5-6
 Group D: Grades 7-9
3. Participants must be Indonesian citizens and
must submit a photocopy of their birth
certificate or passport when registering.
4. Participants can register at only one EF Kids
& Teens center. If a participant is registered
at more than one center, EF can only
acknowledge his/her registration from their
first center.
5. The top three (3) Regional Spelling Bee
Competition participants from each group
will go through to the National Spelling Bee
Competition. If one of the participants is
unavailable, they can be replaced by the 4th
best participant.
Registration and Cancellation
1. All participants must register by filling in the
online/offline registration form and must
upload the latest self-photograph as well as
a birth certificate.

Persyaratan Umum
1. Peserta adalah siswa SD, SMP dan/atau
sederajat (kelas 1 SD – 9 SMP).
2. Peserta dibagi menjadi 4 kategori:
 Grup A: SD Kelas 1-2
 Grup B: SD Kelas 3-4
 Grup C: SD Kelas 5-6
 Grup D: SMP Kelas 7-9
3. Peserta harus berkewarganegaraan
Indonesia (WNI) dan untuk membuktikan
keabsahannya, harap melampirkan Akta
Lahir atau Paspor.
4. Setiap peserta hanya berhak mendaftar di
salah satu cabang EF Kids & Teens. Jika
peserta mendaftar dan mengikuti
perlombaan di lebih dari satu center, maka
yang diakui hanya di center pertama yang
didaftarkan.
5. Tiga (3) peserta terbaik Kompetisi Spelling
Bee Regional dari masing-masing kategori
berhak mengikuti Kompetisi Spelling Bee
Nasional. Jika ada salah satu peserta yang
tidak dapat mengikuti Kompetisi Spelling Bee
Nasional, maka dapat digantikan oleh
peserta terbaik keempat.
Pendaftaran dan Pembatalan
1. Para peserta wajib mengisi formulir registrasi
online/offline dan juga harus mengunggah
foto diri terbaru beserta akta kelahiran.
secara langsung di center EF (masukkan
nama center) paling lambat 30 menit
sebelum kompetisi dimulai.
3. Peserta yang tidak mendaftar ulang akan
 disqualified.
4. The organizer reserves the right to refuse
any changes of any participant and to reject
any participant who does not comply with
the rules.
Competition Rules
1. Participants must wear neat and polite
clothes.
2. Participants will be given a bathroom
break or preparation time before and
after the competition. Participants are
not allowed to leave the competition
room until the competition ends.
3. Participants are not allowed to bring
cell phones, gadgets, smart watches,
dictionaries, or any papers. Those
caught will be expelled from the
competition.
4. Participants must not talk, whisper, or
exchange information in any way with
another participant.
5. The audience is not allowed to enter
the competition room.
6. The audience is not allowed to help the
participants to spell the word in any
way.
7. If the participants or audience disobey
any of the rules, they will be forced to
leave the competition arena.
8. The announcer and judge(s) will be in
complete charge of the contest. Their

dianggap gugur.
4. Semua peraturan yang telah ditetapkan oleh
penyelenggara tidak dapat diganggu gugat
dan penyelenggara berhak untuk menolak
peserta yang tidak menaati peraturan.
Peraturan Kompetisi
1. Peserta wajib memakai pakaian yang
rapi dan sopan.
2. Peserta akan diberikan waktu untuk ke
kamar kecil dan bersiap-siap sebelum
dan sesudah kompetisi. Peserta tidak
diperbolehkan meninggalkan ruangan
kompetisi sebelum kompetisi berakhir.
3. Peserta tidak diperkenankan membawa
telepon genggam, gadget, jam tangan
digital, kamus, atau kertas. Bagi yang
melanggar akan langsung dikeluarkan
dari area kompetisi.
4. Peserta tidak boleh saling berbicara,
berbisik, atau bertukar informasi
dengan cara apapun dengan peserta
lain.
5. Penonton tidak diperbolehkan masuk
ke dalam ruang kompetisi.
6. Penonton dilarang keras untuk
membantu peserta dalam menjawab
pertanyaan dengan cara apapun.
7. Apabila ada peserta dan penonton yang
tidak mematuhi peraturan ini, maka
orang tersebut akan segera dikeluarkan
dari kompetisi.
8. Pembawa acara dan dewan juri
memiliki wewenang penuh selama
 decisions will be final in all matters. NO

Preliminary Round
1. The Preliminary Round will be written.
The announcer will state the word –
sentence – word.
2. The word – sentence – word will only
be stated once.
3. Participants will have 15 seconds
between new words to write down the
word on the answer sheet provided.
There will be a total of 25 words.
4. All spelling will be based on the
Longman Dictionary of Contemporary
English. Both British and American
spellings are acceptable.
5. Around XX% (a minimum of 50 in each
category) of participants with the
highest scores will continue to the
Semifinal Round.
6. If a tiebreaker is needed to reach 50
participants, it will be conducted
among those qualifying participants
with the lowest qualifying score. 5
words will be given in word – sentence
– word format. The lowest scorers after
5 words will be eliminated. This process
will be repeated until the correct
number of qualifiers is left.
Semifinal Round
1. The Semifinal Round will be written.

Babak Preliminary

3. Peserta harus menulis jawabannya
pada lembar jawaban yang tersedia
dalam waktu 15 detik sebelum soal
berikutnya dibacakan. Jumlah soal
adalah 25 kata.
4. Semua ejaan yang digunakan mengacu
pada Kamus Longman Dictionary of
Contemporary English. Baik ejaan
Inggris British maupun Inggris Amerika
akan diterima.
5. Sekitar XX% (minimal 50 per kategori)
peserta dengan nilai tertinggi akan
melanjutkan ke Babak Semifinal.
6. Babak tambahan akan dilakukan jika
terdapat beberapa peserta dengan nilai
terendah yang sama untuk
memperebutkan posisi 50 besar. Setiap
peserta akan diberikan 5 kata dengan
format kata – kalimat – kata. Proses
babak tambahan akan terus diulang
sampai mendapatkan 50 peserta
dengan nilai tertinggi.
Babak Semifinal
1. Babak Semifinal dilaksanakan secara

announcer will state the word –

3. Peserta harus menulis jawabannya
pada lembar jawaban yang tersedia

4. Semua ejaan yang digunakan mengacu

Contemporary English. Baik ejaan

dengan nilai tertinggi akan melanjutkan
ke Babak Final.
6. Babak tambahan akan dilakukan jika
terdapat beberapa peserta dengan nilai
terendah yang sama untuk
memperebutkan posisi 10 besar. Setiap
peserta akan diberikan 5 kata dengan
format kata – kalimat – kata. Proses
babak tambahan akan terus diulang
sampai mendapatkan 10 peserta
dengan nilai tertinggi.
Babak Final
1. Babak Final dilaksanakan secara lisan.
Announcer akan membacakan soal
 sentence – word.
2. The word – sentence – word will only
be stated once.
3. Each participant will get a chance to
spell 5 words.
4. Participants will have 15 seconds to
spell the word between new words.
5. Participants are allowed to say the
word before spelling the word.
6. Participants are allowed to stop and
restart the spelling WITHOUT changing
the previously spelled letters within 15
seconds.
7. If participants misspell the word or are
unable to finish the spelling in 15
seconds, the selected word will NOT be
offered to other participants.
8. Participants who spell the word
correctly will get +1 point for each
word.
9. Participants who spell the word
incorrectly will not get points.
10. If the participants have the same score,
there will be a tiebreaker round – only
for the participant who have the same
scores.
11. Any circumstances where a tiebreaker
round is needed, winners will be
declared by the result of the tiebreaker
round.
12. All spelling will be based on the

English. Both British and American
spellings are acceptable.

7. Apabila peserta salah atau tidak dapat
menyelesaikan ejaannya dalam waktu
15 detik, makan soal kata tersebut
TIDAK akan dilemparkan ke peserta
lain.
8. Peserta yang berhasil mengeja kata
dengan benar akan mendapatkan +1
poin untuk setiap kata.
9. Peserta yang tidak berhasil mengeja
kata dengan benar tidak akan
mendapatkan poin.
10. Bila terdapat dua peserta atau lebih
dengan nilai yang sama, maka akan
diadakan babak tambahan.
11. Apabila terdapat babak tambahan,
maka pemenang akan ditentukan
berdasarkan hasil dari babak tambahan
tersebut.
12. Semua ejaan yang digunakan mengacu
pada Kamus Longman Dictionary of
Contemporary English. Baik ejaan

the third highest will win the third

14. The top 3 participants with the highest
scores will continue to the National
Spelling Bee Competition in Jakarta
City.
Tiebreaker Round (for Final)
If there are participants in Final Round who
have the same score, the participants will
continue to the Tiebreak round with the
following rules:
1. The Tiebreak Round will be spoken.
Announcers will state the word –
word.
2. The word – word will be stated once.
Participants must spell the word
directly within 15 seconds.
3. Each participant will get a chance to
spell 1 word.
4. Participants are allowed to say the
word before spelling the word.
5. Participants are allowed to stop and
restart the spelling WITHOUT changing

seconds.
6. If participants misspell the word or are

lanjut ke Kompetisi Spelling Bee
Nasional di Jakarta.
Babak Tambahan (untuk Final)
Jika ada peserta di babak Final yang memiliki
nilai yang sama, maka para peserta tersebut
akan mengikuti babak tambahan dengan
peraturan sebagai berikut:
1. Babak tambahan dilaksanakan secara
lisan. Announcer akan membacakan
soal dengan bentuk kata – kata.
2. Kata – kata hanya akan dibacakan satu
kali. Peserta harus mengeja kata secara
langsung dalam waktu 15 detik.
3. Setiap peserta akan mendapatkan
kesempatan untuk mengeja 1 kata.
4. Peserta diperbolehkan menyebutkan
kata sebelum mengeja kata tersebut.
5. Peserta diperbolehkan berhenti dan
mengulang ejaan TANPA merubah
ejaan yang telah disebutkan dalam
waktu 15 detik.
6. Apabila peserta salah atau tidak dapat
menyelesaikan ejaannya dalam waktu
15 detik, makan soal kata tersebut
TIDAK akan dilemparkan ke peserta
lain.
7. Peserta yang berhasil mengeja kata
correctly will continue to Final Round. dengan benar berhak menuju babak
Final.
