Regional Spelling Bee Competition 2022
Offline
General Qualifications
1. Participants must currently be elementary
school or junior high school students.
2. The participants will be divided into 4 groups:
 Group A: Grade 1-2
 Group B: Grade 3-4
 Group C: Grade 5-6
 Group D: Grade 7-9
3. Participants must be Indonesian citizens and
must submit a photocopy of their birth
certificate or passport when registering.
4. Participants can register at only one EF English
First center. If a participant is registered at
more than one center, they will only be
recognized at the first center they are
registered.
Registration and Cancellation
1. All participants must register by filling in the
online registration form and must upload the
latest self-photograph as well as birth
certificate.
2. All participants must re-register directly at EF
xxxxx at least 30 minutes before the
competition is scheduled to start.
3. Participants who fail to re-register will be
disqualified.
4. The organizer reserves the right to refuse any

Persyaratan Umum
1. Peserta adalah siswa SD atau SMP dan
sederajat (kelas 1 SD – 3 SMP).
2. Peserta dibagi menjadi 4 kategori:
 Grup A: SD Kelas 1-2
 Grup B: SD Kelas 3-4
 Grup C: SD Kelas 5-6
 Grup D: SMP Kelas 1-3
3. Peserta harus berkewarganegaraan Indonesia
(WNI), untuk membuktikan keabsahannya
harap melampirkan Akta Lahir atau Paspor.
4. Setiap peserta hanya berhak mendaftar di
salah satu cabang EF English First. Jika peserta
mendaftar dan mengikuti perlombaan di lebih
dari satu center, maka yang diakui hanya di
center pertama ketika mendaftar.
Pendaftaran dan Pembatalan
1. Para peserta wajib mengisi formulir registrasi
online dan juga harus mengunggah foto diri
terbaru beserta akta kelahiran.
2. Peserta harus melakukan pendaftaran ulang
secara langsung di EF xxxxx paling lambat 30
menit sebelum kompetisi dimulai.
3. Peserta yang tidak mendaftar ulang akan
dianggap gugur.
4. Semua peraturan yang telah ditetapkan oleh
 changes of any participant and to reject any
participant who does not comply with the
rules.
Competition Rules
1. Participants must wear neat and polite
clothes.
2. Participants will be given a bathroom
break or preparation time before and
after the competition. Participants are
not allowed to leave the competition
room until the competition ends.
3. Participants are not allowed to bring
cellphones, gadgets, dictionaries, or any
papers. Those caught will be expelled
from the competition.
4. Participants must not talk, whisper, or
exchange information in any way with
another participant.
5. The audience are not allowed to enter
the competition room.
6. The audience are not allowed to help the
participants to spell the word in any way.
7. If the participants or audience members
disobey any of the rules, he/she will be
forced to leave the competition arena.
8. The announcer and judge(s) will be in
complete charge of the contest. Their
decisions will be final in all matters. NO
PROTEST WILL BE ENTERTAINED DURING
OR AFTER THE CONTEST HAS ENDED.

Peraturan Kompetisi
1. Peserta wajib memakai pakaian yang rapi
dan sopan.
2. Peserta akan diberikan waktu untuk ke
kamar kecil dan bersiap-siap sebelum dan
sesudah kompetisi. Peserta tidak
diperbolehkan meninggalkan ruangan
kompetisi sebelum kompetisi usai.
3. Peserta tidak diperkenankan membawa
telepon genggam, gadget, kamus, atau
kertas. Bagi yang melanggar akan
langsung dikeluarkan dari area kompetisi.
4. Peserta tidak boleh saling berbicara,
berbisik, atau bertukar informasi dengan
cara apapun dengan peserta lain.
5. Penonton tidak diperbolehkan masuk ke
dalam ruang kompetisi.
6. Penonton dilarang keras untuk
membantu peserta dalam menjawab
pertanyaan dengan cara apapun.
7. Apabila peserta dan penonton tidak
mematuhi peraturan ini, maka akan
segera dikeluarkan dari kompetisi.
8. Pembawa acara dan dewan juri memiliki
wewenang penuh selama kompetisi.
Keputusan mereka mutlak dan tidak
dapat diganggu gugat. Protes tidak akan
diakomodir saat dan setelah kompetisi
berakhir.
Babak Preliminary
1. In Preliminary stage, participants will be
divided into several rooms with several
participants in each room.
2. The number of participants in the
competition rooms will be arranged
according to the total number of
participants.
3. There will be 2 rounds in the Preliminary
stage.
4. A Round is a session in each stage where
each participant will have a few minutes
to spell as many words as possible.
5. Participants will be asked to choose 1
envelope containing a few words to spell.
6. The Preliminary stage will be spoken. The
announcer will state the word – word.
7. The word – word format will only be
stated once. Participants must spell the
word immediately after word-word being
stated.
8. Every participant has the chance to
skip/pass a maximum of 3 times if they
cannot spell the word. When participants
have used skip/pass 3 times, participants
can only spell all words that come out
until they misspell.
9. The Preliminary stage will last
approximately 50 minutes.
10. All spelling will be based on the Longman
Dictionary of Contemporary English. Both
British and American spellings are
acceptable.
11. [X number of participants according to
scenario] participants with the highest
scores will continue to the Semifinal
stage.

1. Dalam babak Preliminary, peserta akan
dibagi ke dalam beberapa ruangan
terpisah dengan beberapa peserta di
setiap ruangan.
2. Jumlah peserta dalam ruangan kompetisi
akan disusun menyesuaikan jumlah total
peserta.
3. Akan ada 2 rounds dalam babak
Preliminary.
4. Round merupakan sesi di dalam setiap
stage, di mana masing-masing peserta
diberikan waktu beberapa menit untuk
mengeja kata sebanyak mungkin.
5. Peserta akan diminta untuk memilih 1
amplop yang berisi beberapa kata untuk
dieja.
6. Babak Preliminary dilaksanakan secara
lisan. Announcer akan membacakan soal
dalam bentuk kata – kata.
7. Format kata – kata hanya akan dibacakan
satu kali. Peserta harus mengeja kata
secara langsung.
8. Setiap peserta mendapat kesempatan
untuk skip/pass maksimal 3 kali jika tidak
dapat mengeja kata. Jika kesempatan
skip/pass sudah habis, maka peserta
harus mengeja kata tersebut sebisa
mungkin.
9. Babak Preliminary akan berlangsung
kurang lebih selama 50 menit.
10. Semua ejaan yang digunakan mengacu
pada Kamus Longman Dictionary of
Contemporary English. Baik ejaan Inggris
British maupun Inggris Amerika akan
diterima.

Tie Break Stage
If there are participants who have the same
score, the participants will continue to the Tie
Break stage with the following rules:
1. Tie Break stage will be spoken.
Announcers will state the word-word.
2. The word – word will be stated once.
Participants must spell the word
immediately after word-word being
stated.
3. Participants must spell as many words as
possible without limited time. Time will
stop when the participant misspells.
4. There are no skip/pass in Tie Break
stage.
5. Assessment based on the numbers of
correct words and the fastest time.

11. 3 peserta dengan nilai tertinggi akan
melanjutkan ke National Spelling Bee
Competition.
Babak Tambahan
Jika ada peserta yang memiliki score yang sama,
maka para peserta tersebut akan mengikuti
babak tambahan dengan peraturan sebagai
berikut:
1. Babak tambahan dilaksanakan secara
lisan. Announcer akan membacakan soal
dengan bentuk kata – kata.
2. Kata – kata hanya akan dibacakan satu
kali. Peserta harus mengeja kata secara
langsung.
3. Peserta harus mengeja kata sebanyak
mungkin tanpa batasan waktu. Waktu
akan berhenti ketika peserta salah
mengeja.
4. Tidak ada kesempatan skip/pass di
dalam babak tambahan.
5. Penilaian berdasarkan jumlah kata yang
benar dan waktu tercepat.
