Folat
• Pasien dengan defisiensi asam folat harus didorong untuk makan
makanan yang kaya akan sayuran dan buah-buahan hijau.
• Suplementasi asam folat dengan dosis 1mg setiap hari biasanya
cukup untuk mencegah defisiensi asam folat pada populasi pasien
berisiko tinggi tertentu (operasi bariatric, malnutrisi, penggunaan
alkohol kronis, anemia hemolitik kronis, dan kondisi dengan
pergantian sel tinggi).
• Sangat direkomendasikan bahwa wanita usia subur makan
makanan kaya folat, dan menerima setidaknya 0,4 mg asam folat
tambahan per hari untuk mencegah komplikasi terkait kehamilan
dan kelainan janin, termasuk cacat tabung saraf
