Wanita jika di bandingkan dengan priode sebelumnya,
memilki peran yang relative lebih tinggi. Wanita adalah
bagian dari sekelompok masyarakat sehingga Wanita
merupakan bagian dari objek yang penting dalam suatu
kajian ilmu sosiologi.
Permasalahan gender

Didalam kehidupan bermasyarakat, ternyata masih ada

perbedaan peran gender, yaitu peran antara pria dan Wanita.
Kehidupan dalam Sebagian besar masyarakat kita masih
menganut pada system patriaki, dimana dominasi kaum pria
lebih berperan dalam kehidupan sosialnya, dari pada kaum
Wanita. Peran tersebut menyangkut berbagai bidang, seperti
biang ekonomi, Pendidikan, politik bahkan dalam . bidang
olahraga. Kenyataannya kaum pria masih mendominasikan
kaum Wanita. Sistem patriaki akan menciptakan system
gender, yaitu pembagian peran yang berbeda dalam
kehidupan social antara pria dan Wanita.
 Kesehatan wanita

Meskipun pria dan Wanita berbeda, bukan berarti hak hidup dan perannya harus dibeda-bedakan, bahkan
semestinya dapat hidup selaras dan saling mengisi sehingga menimbulkan keharmonisan bermasyarakat.
Perbedaan tersebut dapat jelas terlihat secara fisik, yaitu anatomi tubuh dan fungsi fisiologisnya seperti
struktur tulang yang lebih besar dan otot yang lebih besar dan kuat bagi pria sehingga pria lebih leluasa
bergerak dan beraktivitas. Sementara itu Wanita diberi anugrah oleh yang maha kuasa berupa sitem
reproduksi yang tidak dimiliki pria seperti, pertama Wanita memiliki siklus menstruasi secara periodik, yang
bagi Sebagian Wanita akan memberikan pengaruh tertentu dalam kehidupan psikologisnya. Kedua, Wanita
memilki Rahim yang membutuhkan waktu lebih dari Sembilan bulan untuk proses persalinannya sehingga
Wanita lebih terbatas bergerak. Dan perlu di ingat bahwa anugrah tersebut bukanlah suatu kelemahan bagi
Wanita.
 Partisipasi wanita
Peran Wanita dalam masyarakat berbeda diberbagai neraga, namun dalam dunia olahraga, ada upaya
kearah emansipasi. Istilah atlit dipakai, baik pada pria maupun Wanita, padahal dahulu dalam Bahasa
Indonesia ada pemisahan olahragawan untuk atlit pria dan olahragawati untuk atlit Wanita. Kesamaan,
tanpa memandang jenis kelamin, merupakan hal yang paling penting disemua tingkat olahraga. Selain
itu, partisipasi olahraga juga dapat memberi peluang kepada Wanita untuk melakukan koneksi dengan
tubuh mereka. Olaharga membangun masyarakat yang lebih baik dengan mendorong kegiatan mental
dan fisik, keberanian dan keuletan, persahabatan dan hormat, serta kualitas berharga lainnya.
