Have we wondered how we get chocolate from? Well this time we will enter the amazing world of chocolate
so we can understand exactly we are eating.
Chocolate starts a tree called cacao tree. This tree grows in equatorial regions, especially in place such as
South America, Africa, and Indonesia. The cacao tree produces a fruit about the size of a small pine apple. In
side the fruits are the tree's seeds. They are also known as coco beans.
Next, the beans are fermented for about a week, dried in the sun. After that they are shipped to the
chocolate maker. The chocolate maker starts by roasting the beans to bring out the flavor. Different beans
from different places have different qualities and flavor. So they are often shorted and blended to produce a
distinctive mix.
The next process is winnowing. The roasted beans are winnowed to remove the meat nib of the cacao bean
from its shell. Then the nibs are blended. The blended nibs are ground to make it a liquid. The liquid is called
chocolate liquor. It tastes bitter.
All seeds contain some amount of fat and cacao beans are not different. However, cacao beans are half fat,
which is why the ground nibs from liquid. It is pure bitter chocolate.
29. The roasted beans are winnowed to remove the meat nibs. (par.4)
Once upon a time there was a young beautiful girl with long hair. Her name was Landorundun.
One day Landorundun took a bath in the river, and combed her hair. Unfortunately, one piece of her
hair was fallen. When she put it on a stone, the wind flew it to the river bank, and it reached the middle of
sea.
Amazingly, Landorundun's hair was glowing in the sunlight. Coincidentally, an adventurer, Bendurana,
saw it from his ship. Later, he ordered his companions to take that hair, but all of them came back wounded.
Bendurana then walked on water and took the hair himself. He rolled the hair over his arm, and
surprisingly the hair turned to be very long. When he wondered the origin of the hair, a bird said to him
where it came from. To hear the bird's explanation, he decided to follow the flock of the birds to meet the
owner of the hair. Finally, the ship dropped the anchor to a stone. You know, the stone nowadays is called
Batu Sangkinan Lembang.
Then, Bendurana planted a mango tree which instantly grew and had fruits. After that, he walked
around the place and found Landorundun. Straightly, Bendurana asked Landorundun to marry him, but she
refused. She said that her father Solokang and mother Lambe Susu were not ready to be separated from
her. Then, Bendurana walked away, but he kept stalking Landorundun.
The following day, when Landorundun took a bath at the river, she saw the mango tree that
Bendurana had planted and picked fruits. After she ate it, Bendurana asked her who ate his mango.
Landorundun said the shepherd boys did it, but the boys said Landorundun did. Finally, Landorundun
surrendered and agreed to marry Bendurana.
However, Bendurana had another problem. He had to find a way to take Landorundun with him, apart
from her parents. Yeah, he got one. To trick her mother Lambe Susu, Bendurana gave her a bottle with a
large note on its bottom, and ordered Lambe Susu to fill it with water. When Lambe Susu realized that she
had been tricked, she just saw her daughter sailed away.
Far from her land, at the wedding ceremony, Landorundun was not happy, and kept quiet. But when
three men brought a crow with invalid leg, she laughed seeing the crow jumping in an odd way.

A natural disaster is a terrible accident, e.g. a great flood, a big fire or an earthquake. It usually
causes great suffering and loss of a large sum of money. The causalities are injured or died. Some people
are homeless and need medical care.
Floods occur when the water of rivers, lakes, or streams overflow their banks and pour out into the
surrounding land. Floods are caused by many different things. Often heavy rainstorms that last for a brief
time can cause a flood. But not all heavy storms are followed by flooding. If the surrounding land is flat
and can absorb the water, no flooding will occur. If, however, the land is hard and rocky, heavy rain
cannot be absorbed. Where the banks are low, a river may overflow and flood adjacent lowland.

Instead, when they were hungry, they just reached up and broke off a piece of the sky to eat.
Sometimes the sky tasted like ripe bananas. Other times it tasted like roasted potatoes. The sky was
always delicious.
People spent their time making beautiful cloth. They painted beautiful pictures and sang songs at
night. The grand king, Oba, had a wonderful palace. His servants made beautiful shapes out of pieces
of sky.
Many people in the kingdom did not use the gift of the sky wisely. When they took more than they
could eat, the sky became angry. Some people threw the extra pieces into the garbage.
Early one morning the angry sky turned dark. Black clouds hung over the land, and a great sky voice
said to all the people, "You are wasting my gift of food. Do not take more than you can eat. I dont
want to see pieces of me in the garbage anymore or I will take my gift away."
The king and the people trembled with fear. King Oba said, "Lets be careful about how much food we
take." For a long time, all the people were careful.
But one man named Adami wasnt careful. At festival time, he took so many delicious pieces of sky
that he couldnt eat them all. He knew he must not throw them away.
He tried to give the pieces to his wife. "Here, wife," Adami said. "You eat the rest."
"I cant," Adamis wife said. "Im too full."
Adami asked all his children to help him eat the delicious pieces of sky, but the children couldnt eat
one more bite. So Adami decided to try to hide the pieces at the bottom of the garbage pile.
Suddenly, the sky became angry and the clouds turned black. "You have wasted my gift of food
again," yelled the sky. "This time I will go away so you cannot waste me anymore."
All of the people cried, "What will we eat? We might starve!"
The sky said, "You will have to learn how to plant crops in the ground and hunt in the forests. If you
work hard, you may learn not to waste the gifts of nature."
Everyone watched as the sky sailed away. From that time on, they worked hard to grow their food
