Abstract
Background : Elderly faces many problems, along with increasing age, there will be a
decline in bodily functions in the elderly, both physical, physiological and psychological.
Health problems that often occur in one of them lack of quality sleep. Factors that affect
the quality of sleep in the elderly, one of which is depression and anxiety. This study aims
to determine the relationship of depression and anxiety with sleep quality in the elderly at
Simpang IV Sipin Health Center in Jambi City.
Method : This research is a quantitative correlation study with cross sectional design.
The population in this study were all elderly people who visited the puskesmas using
purposive sampling, amounting to 40 people. The data collection method uses a
questionnaire and the method is analyzed univariately and bivariately.
Result : The results of the analysis found 29 (52.7%) children had poor snack behavior at
SDN 148 / IV Jambi City in 2019
Conclution : The results of this study indicate that depression and anxiety are related to
sleep quality in the elderly. It is expected that the puskesmas will not only pay attention to
the physical health of the elderly, but also pay attention to the emotional problems
experienced by the elderly by optimizing the posyandu program and holding activities for
the elderly such as jogging, gymnastics, elderly and other activities..
