ABSTRACT
Setijawati, July. Application of the Role Playing Method to Increase Students' Activities and
Completeness of Learning on Digestive System Material at SMPN 37 Surabaya.
The condition of Biology learning at SMPN 37 Surabaya during the learning process students
experienced difficulties in understanding the material, it was seen from the activities of students
only seeing and listening to explanations from the teacher. Teachers only use discussion, lecture
and question and answer methods, these conditions have an impact on student learning
completeness which is not sufficient for KKM. There are many students who get the value of
biology lessons below the minimum completeness because one of them is because the learning
process so far has not actively involved students, therefore this study aims to see the
completeness of learning biology, especially on the subject matter of the digestive system in
humans. Overcoming these problems can be done by applying various learning methods /
models that are in accordance with the material so that students' learning activities and
completeness can be improved. One of them is the application of the Role Playing method with
image media. This research was conducted from 20 to 25 November 2017 at SMPN 37
Surabaya. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMPN 37 Surabaya. The
sample in this study is class VIIIB which may amount to 22 students. The research method was
carried out by using a quasi experiment method, observation data observation techniques and
tests. The results showed that the activity of class VIII students by applying the Role Playing
method to the material of the human digestive system was 71.91% declared good and positive.
The application of the Role Playing method to the material of the human digestive system has
succeeded in achieving predetermined student learning completeness, as indicated by the
student's KKM score of 86% declared classical complete from the predetermined criteria of
70%.
