Background: empathy behavior is a service or social work done for nurses and
patients. The phenomenon that is developing at this time in Indonesia, there are
still many nurses who carry out nursing services not in accordance with their
profession as health workers. Nurses as health workers should be willing to help
patients in any condition, friendly, smiling, and be empathetic in providing
nursing care. Purpose: this study is to find out how nurses' empathy in hospitals.
TK II Dustira cimahi city. This research method uses purposive sampling using
criteria that have been selected by researchers. Results: this study showed that the
picture of nurses' empathy in Cimahi City Dustira Kindergarten II was 55.9%. The
highest value based on 2 characteristics of empathy was found in affective
empathy characteristics 57.2% while the lowest value was found in cognitive
empathy characteristics 56.6%. Conclusion: the hospital needs to do an evaluation
of nurse empathy and affective and cognitive characteristics in order to be better.
