Hakikat Membaca

Reading is making sense of written language.
Membaca ialah memberi makna terhadap
bahasa tulis. Hakikat paling mendasar dari
proses membaca ialah membuat pengertian.
Maksudnya ialah memperoleh dan menciptakan
gagasan, informasi, memberi makna atau
sering disebut 'memahami'.
Anderson (1972:209) secara singkat dan sederhana sebagai
proses kegiatanmencocokkan huruf atau melafalkan
lambang-lambang bahasa tulis atau reading is a recording
and decoding process.

mempengaruhi Membaca
• Beberapa penyebab kesulitan memahami bacaan antara lain berakar pada kebiasaan baca
yang salah. Kurang memberi perhatian kepada detail, sehingga meskipun maksud umum
bacaan tertangkap secara utuh namun gagal dalam memahami butir-butir tertentu,
• Terlalu imajinatif, terutama bila pembaca menganggap telah mengetahui topik tertentu,
• Kalimat-kalimat yang tersaji mempunyai tingkat kompleksitas yang tinggi,
• Gaya penulisan yang bertipe mengulang-ulang gagasan dengan kata-kata atau ungkapan
khusus
• Gaya pengungkapan pokok pikiran yang tidak langsung Penggunaan kosakata yang tidak
akrab dengan pembaca.
• Gaya pengungkapan pokok pikiran yang tidak langsung sehingga mengharuskan pembaca
mengambil inferensi atas informasi-informasi yang tidak tersurat dalam bacaan,
• Penggunaan kosakata yang tidak akrab dengan pembaca.

penting,karena ia merupakan salah satu fakror alasan pendorong yang sangat kuat pada
diri seseorang untuk berbuat dan meningkatkan keberhasilan aktivitas membaca. Atau
dengan perkataan lain peranan minat dalam membaca menduduki tempat yang sangat
penting, karena ia merupakan sumber pemicu utama seseorang dalam melakukan
aktivitas membaca. Oleh karena itu para guru di sekolah serta para orang tua di rumah
seharusnya lebih memahami benar seputar persoalan minat baca ini, khususnya
terhadap aneka upaya untuk menumbuhkannya. Dari pembahasan diatas dapat
disimpulkan bahwa membaca adalah konteks kehidupan manusia yang sangat penting,
Dan menambah pemahaman orang tua serta tenaga pendidik untuk mengetahui apa-apa
saja faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan belajar serta upaya apa yang dilakukan
untuk meningkatkan minat baca peserta didik .
