Infectious diseases are one of the major problems in Indonesia. One of them
caused by a worm, Ascaris. Ascaris suum derived from the same genus as Ascaris
lumbricoides, and allows to be a model for the study of Ascaris lumbricoides by in
vitro. The purposes of this study was to determine the anthelmintic effect of hexane
extract from Kapulagas fruit (Amomum cardamomum) against Ascaris suum in vitro
by determine of the lethal concentration of 100 (LC100) and lethal time (LT100).
Experiment divided into 5 groups : control positive (pyranthel pamoate), control
negative (1% FCS and PBS), and Hexane Extract of the kapulagas fruit (Amomum
cardamomum) with three concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30%. The design of this
study was post test only control group design, Ascaris suum was obtained from
slaughtering houses in Gadang. The results showed that hexane extract LC100 of
Kapulagas fruit 30% 29.76% and LT100 of this concentration was 9 hours 13
minutes. The conclusion was the kapulagas fruit extract (Amomum cardamomum)
has the anthelmintics effect against Ascaris Suum.
