POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES

Adjectives atau kata sifat yang menunjukkan kepemilikan adalah possessive adjectives.
Possessive adjectives yaitu my, your, his, her, our, their, dan its.

Possessive adjective berfungsi sebagai kata ganti kepemilikan dengan posisi sebagai kata
sifat (adjective) yang menerangkan kata benda (noun). Kata sifat milik ini ditempatkan
sebelum kata benda.

Contoh penggunaan:

My : This is my motorcycle (Ini adalah motor saya)

Your (singular) :Your watch looks nice (Jam tangan mu terlihat bagus)

Her (milik dia perempuan) : Her lipstick is expensive (lipstick dia mahal)

His (milik dia laki-laki) : His room is in that corner (ruangan dia berada di ujung)

Our : Our father is a nice man (ayah kamu adalah orang yang baik)

Your (plural) : Your friends are so beautifull (teman-temanmu sangat cantik)

Their : Their face looks like a film star (Wajah mereka terlihat seperti bintang film)

Its : The dog likes its food (Anjing itu menyukai makanannya)

my computer (komputer saya)

your money (uangmu)

His wife (istrinya)

Her husband (suaminya)

Our home (rumah kita)

Their future (masa depan mereka)

POSSESSIVE PRONOUN

Possessive nouns yaitu mine, yours, his, hers, ours, dan its, merupakan kata ganti yang
digunakan untuk menunjukkan kepemilikan namun berbeda dengan possessive adjectives.

Mine : This motorscycle is mine: (Motor ini milikku)

Yours (tunggal) : That house is yours now (Rumah itu milikmu sekarang)

Hers (milik dia perempuan) : This expensive lipstick is hers (Lipstick mahal ini miliknya)

His (milik dia laki-laki) : The room in that corner is his (Ruangan di pojok itu miliknya)

Ours : The cute cat is ours (Kucing manis itu milik kami)

Yours (jamak) : Those friends are yours (Teman-teman itu adalah teman-temanmu)

Theirs : These balls are theirs (Bola-bola ini adalah milik mereka)

The book is mine. (buku ini miliki saya)

The money that I gave to him is yours. (Uang yang saya berikan kepadanya adalah milikmu.)

That card is his. (kartu itu adalah miliknya.) – his= laki-laki

This coffee is hers. (kopi ini miliknya) – hers = perempuan

Where is ours? (Dimana milik kita?)

Possessive pronouns tidak diikuti oleh benda yang dimiliki layaknya possessive adjective. Dia
berdiri sendiri. Mine berarti milikku, yours berarti milikmu atau milik kalian, his dan
hers berarti miliknya, dan ours berarti milik kami.
