The employing of pesticides is increasing every year in line with the needs
of the community for the protection of their agricultural products. The results of
interviews with the head of the Anjasmoro IV farmer group in Sumberbrantas
Village, the use of pesticides for spraying was >5 types of pesticide brands.
Pesticide spraying is carried out twice a week and depends on the weather. This
study aims to determine the contact between the behavior of pesticide spraying
farmers and the early indicatin of poisoning.
The research design used analytic observational with a cross sectional
approach. The population was 110 pesticide spraying farmers in Anjasmoro IV
farmer group. Sampling using random sampling technique with simple random
sampling method (simple random sampling) of 86 farmers.
The results showed that the pesticide dose and the use of PPE could not
be analyzed because they were in the same category. There is a contact
between working period and early indication of poisoning with a value of ρ value
0.016. There is no contact between the duration of spraying and the value of ρ
value 0.186. There was no contact between the frequency of spraying and the
initial indicatin of poisoning with a value of ρ value 0.661. There is no contact
between wind direction and initial symptoms of poisoning with a value of ρ value
0.910. There is no contact between the amount of pesticides and the initial
indication of poisoning with a value of ρ value 0.294. So it is recommended that
farmers spraying pesticides to use the recommended dosage and use complete
PPE.
