Sosiometri
The word sociometry came from the Latin “socius,” meaning social and the
Latin “metrum,” meaning measure. Sociometry means ‘companion
measure’
Sociometry is a way of measuring the degree of relatedness among people.
Measurement of relatedness can be useful not only in the assessment of
behavior within groups, but also for interventions to bring about positive
change and for determining the extent of change.
Definisi Sosiometri
For a work group, sociometry can be a powerful tool for
reducing conflict and improving communication because it
allows the group to see itself objectively and to analyze its own
dynamics.
It is also a powerful tool for assessing dynamics and
development in groups devoted to therapy or training
Sociometric explorations reveal the hidden structures that give a
group its form: the alliances, the subgroups, the hidden beliefs,
the forbidden agenda’s, the ideological agreements, and the
‘stars’ of the show

These flows of feeling based on the socio‐emotional, or psycho‐
social connections between people, that form informal
networks of relationships
SOCIOMETRY METHOD

a quantitative method for measuring social
relationships developed by psychotherapist
Jacob L. Moreno in his studies of the
relationship between social structures and
psychological well‐being.
a theoretical and methodological approach
which seeks to analyze relations between
individuals in small group situations.
a form of network analysis.
SOCIOMETRY METHOD
One of Moreno's innovations in sociometry
was the development of the sociogram, a
systematic method for graphically representing
individuals as points/nodes and the
relationships between them as lines/arcs.
The data for the sociogram may also be
displayed as a table or matrix of each person’s
choices. Such a table is called a sociomatrix
SOCIOMETRY METHOD
Example of sociometry problem:
Situation in a group consisted 6 persons is as
follows:
A attracted to B and E
B attracted to A and E
C attracted to D and E
D attracted to B and E
E attracted to A and B
Construct sociomatrix and sociogram based on the
