I think my first trip to New Zealand was the best experience of my life. I met quite a lot
of nice people there. I made acquaintance with Jenny, Harry, Joseph, Rexi, and Bryan. They
introduced me to their families. We had barbeque times in Rexi’s and Joseph’s houses.
Joseph and Jenny are brother and sister while Rexi and Bryan are twins.
You can find sheep almost everywhere in New Zealand. The tranquil meadow where
the sheep graze always appears in my mind everytime I go to sleep. Jenny’s father has a lot of
sheep and he showed me his wool cutting machinery, which he uses to collect the sheep’s fur
before processing it into wool thread.
For some people touring is a relaxing experience. Yet, for me it is completely the
opposite. I had to spend time more than 24 hours in the same clothes with greasy hair and 3
hours of sleep. I would rather have travelled from Auckland to Milford Sound in more easy
way. We could have spent a night or soin a hotel, not in our vehicle. However, having a
bunch of friends along the way perked me up. It makes me want to come back to New
Zealand again.
18. The word ‘perked up’ in the last paragraph has the same meaning with ....
A. accompanied
B. made happy
C. threatened
D. made busy
E. drove

An international team of scientists says it has been found a “lost world” in the
Indonesian jungle that is the home to dozens of new animals and plant species. It’s as close to
the Garden of Eden as you’re going to find on earth.” Said Bruce Beehler, co-leader of the
group.
The group of Indonesian, American and Australian researcher trekked through an area
in the mist - shrouded , the researchers spent nearly a month in the area, detailing the wildlife
and plantlife from the lower hills to near the summit of the Foja range, which reaches more
than 2,000 m in elevation.
The team found four new species of butterflies, twenty new speciesof frogs and a whole
series of remarkable plants including five new palms and a giant rhododendron flower. The
survey also found a honey-eater bird that was previously unknown to science and the first
new bird species discovered on the island of New Guinea since 1939. They also found the
breeding grounds of a “lost” bird of paradise. The six-wired bird of paradise was first seen in
the late 19th century but hadn’t been found again since then. The team took the first
photographs of the golden fronted bower bird displaying its plunge. Besides, the team also
recorded a golden mantled tree kangaroo, which was not known to be in this area and is near
extinction in other areas. “It’s beautiful, untouched, unpopulated forest, there is no evidence
of human impact or presence,” said Dr. Beehler.

The polar bear is a very big white bear. We call it the polar bear because it lives inside
the Artic Circle near the North Pole. There are no polar bears at the South Pole. Polar bears
live at the North Pole. There is only snow, ice and water. There is not any land. These bears
are three meters long, and weigh 450 kilos. They can stand up on their back legs because they
have very wide feet. They can use their front legs like arms. The polar bears can swim very
well. They can swim 120 kilometers out into the water. They catch fish and sea animals for
food. They go into the sea when they are afraid.
People like to kill the polar bears for their beautiful white coats. The governments of
Canada, the United States and Russia say that no one can kill polar bears now. They do not
want all of these beautiful animals die.
Yours faithfully,

Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi. His parents were
poor, and they were very religious. They often took Elvis to church. That’s where he first
learned to sing. Most people feel that these religious songs had a big influence on Elvis’s
singing style.
Then, when he was a teenager, Elvis went to live in Memphis, Tennessee. He went to
the local high school. He was an average student. The thing he was really interested in was
music.
One day, in 1955, he took his guitar to the Sun Recording Studio in Memphis. There he
recorded two country’n’western songs for his mother’s birthday. All her life, she was very
close to Elvis. One of the songs was called that’s All Right, Mama. The recording studio liked
the songs and they liked the singer. His style was a mixture of two traditions, white
country’n’western, and blues – the music of black people in the South.
A few months later, Elvis met “Colonel” Tom Parker. Parker took over Elvis’s career.
With his management, Elvis became popular not only in America but also all over the world.
Soon, Elvis had his first smash hits – Hound Dog, All Shook Up and many others. They
were wonderful songs, sung by the greatest pop star in the history of pop music,
Some years later, Elvis was making Hollywood films like Love Me Tender and King
Creole. He made many films –some people say too many. Some of them were not very good.
But Elvis’s fans were always loyal. They went to see all his films and hey bought all his
records.
Elvis died at the age of 42. It was a sudden death and it came as a shock. Everyone
knew Elvis was the king of rock’n’roll. And everyone knows he will always be the king of
rock’n’roll. Long live Elvis!

Traditionally, teacher brings text book, ruler and such other stuff. Even, in this
multimedia era, teachers need more to reach their teaching goals. Teachers need power point
to present the material easily. Of course, it takes more time to type but it deserves its
function.
Additionally, modern teachers tend to apply fast transferring knowledge to the students
because the teachers need to catch the target of curriculum. Every subject will tend to be
given in demonstrative method. Consequently, teachers need extra media to present the
subject gratifyingly. Since there is a laptop used by the teachers, it will help them to create
some teaching aids for the students to get better understanding.
Finally, finding an appropriate laptop which has gigabytes of memory is not difficult as
it was. Recently, there is an online shop which provides comprehensive information. The best
one is that the shop has an online shopping service. The teachers just need to brows
that online shop, decide which laptop they need, then complete the transaction. After that, the
laptop will be delivered to the teachers' houses or office. That is really easy and saves time
and money.
Based on the arguments above having laptop is absolutely useful for teachers who want
to reach the best result for their teaching. Buying laptop online is advisable because it will cut
the price. This online way is recommended since online shop also provides several laptop
types. Teachers just need to decide which type they really need.

MANILA (AFP): The Philippines has the most number of endemic bird species which
are in danger of extinction, according to a nation-wide wildlife report obtained here
yesterday.
“The Philippines Red Data Book’, written by the Wildlife Conservation Society of the
Philippines, noted that the country has 40 endangered bird species, more than any other
country.
This includes the Cebu flower-pecker of which only four are known to still be alive,
making it the most endangered bird in the world, the ‘Red Data Book’ said.
An endangered species is defined as one that has a 20 percent chance of becoming
extinct in 20 years.
The ‘Data Book’ said the threat of extinction was due to the growing destruction of
the forests which are the habitats of the birds and other wild animals, many of which are
similarly endangered.
