The elderly experience a decline in cells due to the aging process which
can result in organ weakness, physical decline, the emergence of various
diseases such as increased uric acid levels. Gout disease or commonly known
as arthritis gout is a disease caused by the accumulation of monosodium urate
crystals in the body. Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism, which
is a component of nucleic acids found in the nucleus of body cells.
This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post control
group approach. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling
with a total sample of 28 elderly people. The results of the study used the
Paired t-test.
Statistical analysis using the Independent t test The results showed that
after the Independent t test was carried out, the treatment group and the
control group obtained a p-value of 0.000 so that the significance was smaller
than the degree of error determined by the researcher, namely 0.05 (0.000 <
0.05). This means that there was an effect of ergonomic exercise and water
therapy on changes in uric acid levels in the elderly.
This conclusion has the effect of ergonomic exercise and water therapy
on the elderly who suffer from gout. For further researchers to conduct
further research on the provision of ergonomic exercise and water therapy to
reduce uric acid levels in the elderly with more accurate techniques.
