KD 3.2 Membedakan fungsi social, struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan beberapa teks khusus
dalam bentuk teks caption dengan memberi informasi terkait
gambar/foto/table/grafik/bagan sesuai dengan konteks penggunaannya.

KD 4.2 Teks penyerta gambar (CAPTION)

DEFINITION OF CAPTION :

According to Cambridge Academic Content Dictionary, caption is brief text over or under a
picture in a book, magazine, or newspaper that describes the picture or explains what the
people in it are doing or saying (Caption adalah teks singkat di atas atau di bawah gambar di
buku, majalah, atau koran yang mendeskripsikan gambar atau menjelaskan apa yang dilakukan
atau dikatakan orang di dalamnya.)
FUNCTION OF CAPTION :
To tell the viewer or reader about what’s happening in the picture, video, table or graph.
KINDS OF CAPTION :
1. Identification bar (who is someone in the picture)
2. Cutline (who is the person and what’s happening)
3. Summary (5 W)
4. Expanded (5W 1 H (who, what,where,when,why and how) complete caption)
5. Quote (inspiration for other people)
6. Group identification (two person or more)
HOW TO WRITE A CAPTION:
1. Using simple present tense
2. There are 5 W 1 H in caption
3. Written in complete sentence
Many people using caption nowadays to tell about her/his feeling NOT about describe a
picture. So, a good and complete caption if describe about the photo or picture.
STRUCTURE OF CAPTION :
Struktur penulisan caption Caption tidak ditulis dengan sembarang. Terdapat struktur penulisan
caption agar apa yang ada di gambar tersampaikan dengan baik, yaitu:
1. Opening Opening (pembuka) biasanya pada sebuah gambar ditulis dengan ukuran lebih
besar untuk menarik perhatian pembaca.
2. Content Content (isi) berisi informasi yang ringkas untuk menjelaskan gambar.
3. Closing Bagian closing (penutup) biasanya berupa informasi tambahan yang belum
tersampaikan di content.
