Present Tense (saat ini)

▪ Simple Present
Fungsi Tense ini digunakan untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang yaaa… hari2 biasa aja, rutin gt misalnya. Atau
omongan yang sifatnya biasa aja.
S+V1
Contoh : kelas Bahasa inggris dimulai hari selasa jam 7 pagi.
English class begins at 7 AM (after meridian)

▪ Present Continuous
menjelaskan apa yang sedang dikerjakan saatitujuga
S+Ving
Contoh : He is working in Dubai.

▪ Present Perfect
digunakan untuk mengungkapkan suatu kejadian yang telah dimulai di waktu lampau dan masih berlanjut
sampai sekarang atau telah selesai pada suatu titik waktu tertentu di masa lalu tetapi ada hubungannya
dengan saat sekarang.
Rumus : Subject + has/have + Verb 3 + Object/Adverb
I have known him for years. (Saya telah mengenalnya beberapa tahun)

▪ Present Perfect Continuous Tense

digunakan untuk menunjukkan suatu aksi yang sudah selesai dilakukan di masa lampau dan masih berlanjut
sampai saat ini.
Rumus: Subject + has/have + been + Verb -ing (Continuous Form)
Contoh Kalimat (Positive): “I have been thinking about it.”
Contoh Kalimat (Negative): “I have not been thinking about it.”
Contoh Kalimat (Question): “Have I been thinking about it?”
 2. Past Tense (sudah lalu)

Prinsip dasar dari Past Tense adalah menggunakan kata kerja bentuk ke-2. Past Tense ini dibagi lagi menjadi 4
tense berbeda yang terdiri dari:

▪ Simple Past
digunakan untuk suatu peristiwa atau kebiasaan yang sudah lalu lalu.
Rumus : S + V2 + O/A
Contoh : They went to Lombok yesterday.
Mereka pergi ke Lombok kemarin

▪ Past Continuous
untuk peristiwa yang sedang berlangsung atau terjadi di masa lalu.
Rumus : S+v2, S + was/were + V-ing
Contoh : When they arrived, she was cleaning the room.
Saat mereka tiba, dia sedang membersihkan ruangan.
“I was washing my clothes when the phone rang.”

▪ Past Perfect
digunakan dalam pernyataan tentang suatu peristiwa di masa lampau yang terjadi sebelum peristiwa
berikutnya muncul. Kedua peristiwa tersebut berlangsung di masa lampau.
Rumus : S+V2, Subject + had + V3
Contoh : They went home after they had submitted their assignment.
Mereka pulang ke rumah setelah menyerahkan tugas.
The girl had cried before her mother came.

▪ Past Perfect Continuous

digunakan untuk peristiwa di masa lampau yang telah berlangsung beberapa saat dan ketika peristiwa lain
muncul, peristiwa tersebut belum selesai.
Rumus : S+v2, S + had + been + V-ing
She had been watering the plants for three hours when I came.
Ia telah menyirami bunga selama 3 jam ketika saya datang
 3. Future Tense (akan datang)

▪ Simple Future
Fungsi Tense ini digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan atau peristiwa yang akan terjadi di masa mendatang.
S + will + V1 + Object/Adverb
S + am is are + going to + V1
I will go to Bali next year.
Saya akan pergi ke Bali tahun depan

▪ Future Continuous
Future continuous tense digunakan untuk menceritakan suatu kejadian yang pasti akan terjadi dalam waktu
dekat. Berbeda dengan simple future tense, future continuous tense biasanya digunakan untuk menceritakan
sesuatu yang akan (pasti) terjadi di masa depan, atau apa yg sedang dilakukan di masa datang
Rumus: Subject + will + be + Verb -ing (Continuous Form)
Contoh Kalimat (Positive): “He will be playing basketball in the playground tomorrow morning.”
I will be writing my report when you come.
Saya sedang menulis laporan saat kamu datang nanti.

▪ Future Perfect
Fungsi Tense ini digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang sudah selesai dilakukan di masa mendatang
ketika kegiatan lain muncul atau sebelum waktu tertentu.
Rumus : S + will + have + V3
Contoh : I will have finished my paper by the time you come.
Saya akan sudah menyelesaikan makalahnya ketika kamu datang nanti.

▪ Future Perfect Continuous

Fungsi Tense ini digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu kegiatan yang sudah terjadi di masa datang dan ketika
kegiatan lain muncul pada waktu tertentu, kegiatan pertama masih berlangsung.
Rumus : S + will + have + been + V-ing
Contoh : My mother will have been sleeping for three hours by the time Showimah begins.
4. Past Future Tense
▪ Past future tense
Rencana atau peristiwa yang akan terjadi
S + Would/should + V1
S + Was / Were + Going to + V1
He said that he would buy a new phone
Mother told me that she would make a sweater for me
Mr. Reese said that he was going to go to China

▪ Past Future Continuous Tense

Past future continuous tense digunakan untuk memberikan penekanan pada durasi sebuah peristiwa
yang terjadi. Jenis tense ini juga sering dipakai pada kalimat tidak langsung
S + V2, S + Should / Would Be + Ving
I told you that I should be working all day long
Jenny promised that she would be doing her job for the next 3 hours
He said that he would be delivering a speech tomorrow afternoon

▪ Past Future Perfect Tense

Untuk kalimat pengandaian. Kalimat tersebut menyatakan bahwa sebuah aksi direncakana telah terjadi
di masa lampau namun kenyataannya tidak terjadi sesuai rencana.
S + Should / Would Have + V3
I should have finished the task last night
If I had money, I would have been happy
I would have gone to Netherlands if I had a lot of money

▪ Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Menyatakan bahwa sebuah aksi akan telah terjadi dan masih berlangsung pada waktu lampau. Tense
ini tidak ada hubungannya dengan masa sekarang.

digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari utuk menceritakan suatu kejadian atau rutinitas gitu.
Rumus yang digunakan untuk membentuk simple present tense:

2. Present Continuous Tense

3. Present Perfect Tense

untuk menceritakan suatu tindakan yang baru saja selesai.
Rumus: Subject + has/have + Verb 3 (Past Participle Form)
 Berikut adalah contoh kalimatnya:

4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense

digunakan untuk menunjukkan suatu aksi yang sudah selesai dilakukan pada suatu titik di masa lampau dan
masih berlanjut sampai saat ini.

5. Simple Past Tense

You’re right, simple past tense ini adalah kebalikan dari simple present tense. Dalam hal ini, simple past
tense digunakan untuk menceritakan suatu kejadian, kebiasaan, menyatakan fakta, atau situasi yang terjadi di
masa lampau. Tense ini menggunakan kata kerja bentuk kedua atau lampau. Kata keterangan waktu yang biasa
digunakan dalam tense ini adalah yesterday, two days ago, dan masih banyak lagi.
Rumus: Subject + Verb II (Past Form)
• Contoh Kalimat (Positive): “They called their friends yesterday.”
• Contoh Kalimat (Negative): “They did not call their friends yesterday.”
• Contoh Kalimat (Question): “Did they call their friends yesterday?”
Melalui tenses ini, kamu dapat membuat cerita masa lalu untuk melatih pemahaman terhadap perubahan
bentuk kata kerja. Oh ya, guna memudahkan mempelajari tenses bentuk past, kamu juga sangat disarankan
untuk menguasai bentuk-bentuk kata kerja dalam bahasa Inggris. Kalau dalam past tense, yang paling sering
digunakan adalah bentuk regular verb dan irregular verb.

6. Past Continuous Tense

Sedikit lebih kompleks, menurut fungsinya, past continuous tense merupakan bentuk tense untuk menceritakan
kejadian yang sedang terjadi di masa lampau. Tetapi, nggak cuma satu, past continuous tense juga dapat
digunakan untuk menceritakan dua kejadian yang sedang terjadi di masa lampau. Jadi, ada satu aktivitas
dibarengi dengan aktivitas yang lain.
 Rumus yang umum dipakai: Subject + was/were + Verb -ing (Continuous Form)
• Contoh Kalimat (Positive): “I was washing my clothes when the phone rang.”
• Contoh Kalimat (Negative): “I was not washing my clothes when the phone rang.”

7. Past Perfect Tense

Past perfect tense digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu kejadian yang terjadi sebelum waktu tertentu di masa
lampau. Seringkali, past perfect tense lebih menaruh penekanan pada fakta bahwa sesuatu sudah terjadi dan
bukan pada durasi.
Rumus: Subject + had + Verb 3 (Past Participle Form)

8. Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Tense yang satu ini digunakan untuk menceritakan sesuatu yang terjadi di masa lalu dan sudah selesai pada titik
waktu tertentu di masa lalu. Berbeda dengan past perfect tense, past perfect continuous tense lebih menaruh
penekanan pada durasi terjadinya sesuatu.
Rumus: Subject + had + been + Verb -ing (Continuous Form)

9. Simple Future Tense

yang akan datang. Namun, selain itu, tense yang satu ini juga bisa digunakan untuk menceritakan keputusan di
masa depan yang spontan atau mengekspresikan prediksi yang berhubungan dengan waktu yang akan datang.
Susunan rumus: Subject + will/be going to + Verb 1 (Present Form)
• Contoh Kalimat (Positive): “She will come to the cinema tomorrow.”

 10. Future Continuous Tense
Future continuous tense digunakan untuk menceritakan suatu kejadian yang pasti akan terjadi dalam waktu
dekat. Berbeda dengan simple future tense, future continuous tense biasanya digunakan untuk menceritakan
sesuatu yang akan (pasti) terjadi di masa depan.
Rumus: Subject + will + be + Verb -ing (Continuous Form)

11. Future Perfect Tense

Future perfect tense digunakan untuk mengungkapkan bahwa ada suatu aksi yang akan dilakukan dan

sekarang, atau di masa depan dan diperkirakan akan berlanjut.

13. Simple Past Future Tense
Past future tense digunakan untuk membentuk kalimat tentang masa depan dari sudut pandang masa lalu.
Secara spesifik, past future tense digunakan untuk menyatakan tindakan yang akan dilakukan, membuat
prediksi, hingga membuat janji di masa depan pada saat berada di masa lalu. Umumnya, tense yang satu ini
ditemukan dalam kalimat yang tidak langsung atau reported speech.
Rumus: Subject + would + Bare Infinitive atau Subject + was/were + going to + Bare Infinitive

14. Past Future Continuous Tense
Umumnya, past future continuous tense, fungsi tense ini adalah untuk menunjukkan suatu peristiwa yang akan
terjadi di masa lalu. Namun, peristiwa yang ada di cerita tersebut tidak dapat menjadi nyata karena satu dan
lain hal yang terjadi di masa lalu.
Rumus: Subject + would + be + Verb -ing

15. Past Future Perfect Tense
Past future perfect tense digunakan untuk menunjukkan sebuah kegiatan yang seharusnya sudah selesai di masa
lalu. Namun, sama seperti past future continuous tense, aktivitas tersebut tidak terselesaikan karena satu dan
lain hal yang terjadi di masa lalu. Oh, ya! Bersanding dengan past perfect tense, tense yang satu ini juga bisa
digunakan untuk membuat kalimat conditional type 3, lo.

16. Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense
Past future perfect continuous tense digunakan untuk menjelaskan tentang hal atau kegiatan yang akan, sedang,
dan telah dilakukan di masa lalu. Biasanya, terdapat lebih dari satu keterangan waktu dalam tense yang satu ini.
Catatannya, past future perfect continuous tense berbentuk asumsi atau pengandaian belaka.
Rumus: Subject + would + have been + Verb -ing
Contoh penggunaan past future perfect continuous tense dalam sebuah kalimat:
