 Introduction
Sebuah studi telah dilakukan untuk menentukan kadar
mineral mikro kation dan anion dalam sampel air panas
bumi dengan teknik kromatografi ion

Kromatografi ion telah dikenal sebagai metode analitik

yang sangat populer digunakan untuk menentukan kadar
anorganik kation dan anion dalam berbagai jenis sampel air

Metode deteksi kromatografi ion menggunakan sistem
konduktivitas yang tidak tertekan dan tertekan dapat
diterapkan pada masing-masing penentuan kadar
mineral kation dan anion

Dalam penelitian ini, kromatografi ion dengan sistem

konduktivitas tidak ditekan digunakan untuk penentuan
7 jenis kation seperti Na+, NH4+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Ba2+,
dan Sr2+, sedangkan kromatografi ion dengan sistem
konduktivitas ditekan digunakan untuk penentuan 7
jenis anion seperti F-, Cl-, NO2-, Br-, NO3-, SO42-, dan
PO43-
Pendahuluan
Selama ribuan tahun, masyarakat telah menggunakan air
panas bumi dan air yang mengandung mineral untuk
mandi dan kesehatan mereka.

Balneoterapi adalah praktik menggunakan air panas

mineral alami untuk pengobatan dan penyembuhan
penyakit kulit

Di seluruh Eropa dan Jepang misalnya, terapi balneoterapi

dan pemandian air panas sangat banyak dan menjadi
bagian dari perawatan medis rutin.
 Keberadaan berbagai unsur dan ion (kation dan anion),
terutama belerang (S) dan ion sulfat (SO42-), membuat
sumber air panas cocok untuk keperluan medis terutama
untuk terapi infeksi kulit, masalah pernapasan, serta
radang kulit

Air panas bumi adalah satu diantara sampel air lingkungan, yang dapat dengan
mudah ditentukan kadarnya menggunakan teknik kromatografi ion.

Penelitian ini berfokus pada tiga tujuan utama yaitu menyajikan efektivitas aplikasi
teknik determinasi kromatografi ion pada penentuan kadar mineral kation (Na +,
NH4+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Ba2+, dan Sr2+) dan mineral anion (F-, Cl-, Br-, NO2-, NO3-,
SO42-, dan PO43-), melakukan interpretasi data yang diperoleh dari 3 sumber air panas
bumi yang dikumpulkan serta pemetaan kadar ion yang dimiliki dari titik sumber air
panas bumi di Maluku Utara, Indonesia
Metode Penelitian
Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen kromatografi ion dengan merek
Metrohm Eco IC (Swiss) yang dilengkapi dengan sistem deteksi konduktivitas
tidak tertekan dan tertekan, dan dilengkapi dengan 2 buah kolom pemisah
kation (Metrosep C4-150/4.0) dan kolom pemisah anion (Metrosep A Supp
17-250/4) yang digunakan untuk melakukan determinasi kadar kation dan
anion dalam sampel standar dan sampel air panas bumi.

Penambahan deteksi konduktivitas tertekan yang biasa ada pada pemisahan

anion adalah tambahan instrumen yang digunakan untuk menurunkan latar
konduktan.
Standar kalibrasi kadar yang sesuai, disiapkan setiap
minggu dengan mengencerkan standar IC Multielement
(Merck) dengan deret standar kation dan anion untuk
tujuan kalibrasi sebanyak 10 mg/L, 20 mg/L, 40 mg/L, 80
mg/L, 160 mg/L yang mengandung masing-masing Na+ ,
NH4 + , K+ , Mg2+, dan Ca2+ untuk kation dan F - , Cl- ,
Br- , NO2 - , NO3 - , SO4 2- , dan PO4 3- untuk anion.
Semua larutan standar disiapkan menggunakan akuades
dan disaring sebelum determinasi dilakukan.
