Awal mula terjadinya perang puputan
Abad ke 19 bali sudah berkembang kerajaan-kerajaanberdaulat. Contohnya Kerajan Buleleng dil.
Padamasa Gubernur Jenderal Daendels ada kontak dengankerajaan bali menyangkut hubungan dagang
dansew. Tapi Hindia Belanda ingin menanamkanpengarul dan berkuasa di bali. Pertama G.A

perjanjiantersebut, benda juga memalsa untukmembayar ganti rugi atas kapalbelanda yang dirampas
penduduk. RajaGusti Ngurah Made Karangasem yangmendapat dukungan patihnya, I GustiKtut
Jelantik, dengan tegas menolaktuntutan Belanda tersebut yangmenyebabkan perang terjadi.
