Erosi merupakan suatu proses atau peristiwa hilangnya lapisan permukaan tanah atas, baik

disebabkan oleh pergerakan air atau angin. Di Indonesia, erosi umumnya terjadi disebabkan
oleh pergerakan air. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jumlah erosi potensial
dengan menggunakan model WEPP (Water Erosion Prediction Project). Simulasi dilaksanakan di
sebuah kawasan Sub-sub DAS Cibodas yang terletak di kabupaten Garut. Penelitian ini
dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari-April 2014. Kawsan yang dijadikan simulasi memiliki luas
450 ha. Besaran erosi hasil simulasi WEPP adalah sebesar 433.3 ton/tahun. Pada penggunaan
lahan berupa hutan, besarnya erosi yang terjadi 0.5 ton/ha/tahun. Pada penggunaan lahan
berupa kebun, besarnya erosi yang terjadi 1.2 ton/ha/tahun. Pada penggunaan lahan berupa
ladang/tegalan, besarnya erosi yang terjadi 2.0 ton/ha/tahun. Pada penggunaan lahan berupa
semak, besarnya erosi yang terjadi 1.6 ton/ha/tahun. Sementara rata-rata erosi yang terjadi
adalah 1.3 ton/ha/tahun. Hasil pendugaan erosi sebesar 1.3 ton/ha/tahun menunjukan erosi
tingkat sedang.

Erosion is a process or phenomenon of the vanishing of the surface layer of earth, which is
caused by the movement of water or air. In Indonesia, erosion is caused generally by water
movement. The objective of this research is to reveal the sum of potential erosion using WEPP
(Water Erosion Prediction Project) model. The simulation is performed in Cibodas sub-
watershed region in Garut District. The research is performed from February until April 2014.
The region of the simulation encompasses 450 ha square measure. The magnitude of erosion
resulted from the WEPP simulation is 433.3 ton/year. In the land used as forest, the magnitude
of erosion occurred is 0.5 ton/ha/year. In the land used as farm, the magnitude of erosion is
1.2 ton/ha/year. In the land used as field/moor, the magnitude of erosion is 2.0 ton/ha/year.
In the land used as brushwood, the magnitude of erosion is 1.6 ton/ha/year. The average
erosion occurred is 1.3 ton/ha/year. The erosion estimation result of 1.3 ton/ha/year
indicates medium level erosion.
