Abstract
Photosynthesis is the event of compiling organic matter (sugar) from inorganic substances
(water, carbon dioxide), with the help of light energy. Photosynthesis is also called assimilation of
carbon. Respiration is the process of reforming organic compounds into inorganic compounds and
producing energy. Respiration is divided into two parts, namely, aerobic respiration and
anaerobic respiration. Aerobic respiration is a metabolic process in plants using oxygen.
Anaerobic respiration is the breakdown reaction of carbohydrates to obtain energy without using
oxygen. Practicum was held on November 1, 2018 at the Biology Education Laboratory FKIP
Syiah Kuala University. The purpose of this lab is to understand the photosynthesis process that
occurs in plants, to measure the volume of oxygen used to breathe, proving that the process of
transpiration takes place in plants, calculating the amount of water evaporated by the union of
time. The results of the practicum are that the bright reaction of Hydrilla vercillata produces
bubbles due to photosynthesis while the dark reaction does not produce bubbles and at the
respiration of the great Grasshopper is slower than the respiration of the small Grasshopper..
