PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE

A. PENGGUNAAN
Present Continuous Tense merupakan pola kalimat yang digunakan untuk menyatakan
kejadian yang SEDANG BERLANGSUNG di waktu SEKARANG.

B. BENTUK
Kata kerja yang digunakan dalam Present Continuous Tense berbentuk Progressive
(Ving) yaitu dengan menambahkan –ing dibelakang infinitive (V1). Contoh:
V1 Ving
do (mengerjakan) doing (sedang mengerjakan)
go (pergi) going (sedang pergi)

Catatan:
 Kata keterangan waktu yang digunakan dalam pola ini antara lain:
now (sekarang), recently (akhir-akhir ini), at the moment (pada saat ini)

 Kata-kata kerja yang menyatakan perasaan atau berhubungan dengan pancaindera

berikut ini tidak pernah digunakan dalam pola Present Continuous Tense:
agree (setuju), like (suka), remember (ingat),
appear (nampak), look (nampak), satisfy (puas),
believe (meyakini), love (cinta), see (melihat),
belong (milik), mean (bermaksud), seem (nampaknya),
depend (bergantung), need (butuh), smell (berbau),
forget (lupa), own (punya), sound (terdengar),
hate (benci), possess (memiliki), taste (berasa),
have (punya), prefer (lebih suka), understand (paham),
hear (dengar) promise (berjanji), want (ingin),
know (mengetahui) , realize (menyadari), wish (berharap),

C. CONTOH
Berikut ini contoh penggunaan Present Continuous Tense.
( + ) The children are playing. (Anak-anak itu sedang bermain)
( ̶ ) The children are not playing. (Anak-anak itu tidak sedang bermain)
( ? ) Are the children playng? (Apakah anak-anak itu sedang bermain?)

(+) Father is working. (Ayah sedang bekerja)

( ̶ ) Father is not working. (Ayah sedang tidak bekerja)
(?) Is father working? (Apakah ayah sedang bekerja?)
