Paragraf
 Pengertian Paragraf
Paragraf atau Alinea adalah seperangkat kalimat
yang membahas satu topik atau hanya mengacu
pada satu gagasan pokok. Topik dituangkan ke
dalam suatu kalimat yang disebut dengan
kalimat topik atau kalimat utama, sedangkan
kalimat yang menjelaskan kalimat topik disebut
kalimat penjelas. Sebuah paragraf
juga bisa tidak memiliki kalimat topik yang
tersurat tapi tersirat dalam paragraf.
 Kegunaan Paragraf
1. Mengekspresikan gagasan secara tertulis dengan memberi bentuk
suatu pikiran dan perasaan ke dalam serangkaian kalimat yang
tersusun secara logis, dalam satu kesatuan.
2. Menandai peralihan gagasan baru bagi karangan yang terdiri
beberapa paragraf, ganti paragraf berarti ganti pikiran.
3. Paragraf memudahkan pengorganisasian gagasan bagi penulis, dan
memudahkan pemahaman bagi pembacanya.
4. Memudahkan pengembangan topik karangan ke dalam satuan-
satuan unit pikiran yang lebih kecil.
5. Memudahkan pengendalian variabel terutama karangan yang terdiri
atas beberapa variabel.
Syarat Pembentukan Paragraf
KESATUAN PARAGRAF
Sebuah paragraf dikatakan mempunyai kesatuan jika hanya
membicarakan satu pokok pikiran atau satu masalah.
Keterkaitan antarkalimat diikat oleh satu topik pembicaraan
yang sama, bukan topik masalah yang berlainan. Jadi tidak
boleh ada kalimat sumbang atau menyimpang dari pikiran
utamanya.
Contoh paragraf berkalimat sumbang :
Hari akan hujan. Angin bertiup kencang. Debu-debu beterbangan.
Awan hitam bergerak dengan cepat. Burung-burung berkicau riang.
Para pedagang kaki lima sibuk mengemas dagangannya.
KEPADUAN PARAGRAF
Mengaitkan hubungan antarkalimat. Hubungan antarkalimat
Harus saling berkaitan, tidak ada satu kalimat pun yang
hubungannya tidak logis.
Cara mengaitkan hubungan antarkalimat dapat dilakukan dengaN
melihat hubungan antarsubjek atau antarpredikat. Kepaduan
Sebuah paragraf dibangun dengan memperhatikan:
Repetisi atau pengulangan kata kunci
Contoh:
Semua isi alam ini adalah makhluk, artinya ciptaan Tuhan. Ciptaan
Tuan yang paling sempurna dan paling mulia adalah manusia.
Manusia diizinkan oleh Than memanfaatkan semua isi alam ini
untuk keperluan hidupnya. Akan tetapi, tidak diizinkan menyakiti,
menyiksa, dan menyia-nyiakan.
