PERTUKARAN GAS
Untuk aktivitas hidupnya, tumbuhan
mengambil berbagai materi dari
lingkungannya. Sebaliknya, tumbuhan
mengeluarkan zat-zat tertentu ke
lingkungannya. Zat-zat tertentu tersebut
di samping merupakan sisa metabolisme
yang memang harus keluar dari jaringan,
juga beberaapa jenis zat yang lain dengan
kepentingan tertentu. Dengan kata lain,
tumbuhan melakukan pertukaran zat.
PERTUKARAN GAS
Alat-alat pertukaran zat yang penting
pada tumbuhan terutama adalah stomata.
Tumbuhan memiliki alat alat lain yang
fungsinya lebih menonjol untuk
pengeluaran, seperti lentisel, hidatoda,
sel-sel epidermis akar, trikomata dan sel-
sel kelenjar. Melalui kelenjar nektaria,
tumbuhan mengeluarkan madu. Melalui
trikomata, tumbuhan melepaskan air atau
zat-zat toksik tertentu yang digunakan
untuk pertahanan dari predator atau
organisme pathogen.

STOMATA
Stomata berfungsi untuk pertukaran
oksigen menjadi karbon dioksida yang
menjadi awal proses pernapasan pada
tumbuhan. Stomata dijaga oleh 2 sel
penjaga yang akan membuka ketika ada
sinar matahari, dan menutup ketika tidak
ada sinar matahari.
LENTISEL
Lentisel adalah lubang di bagian batang
akibat pengelupasan dari kambium
gabus, parenkim gabus, dan lapisan
gabus. Lentisel terletak di tumbuhan
yang bertipe dikotil monokotil. Alat
pernapasan ini berguna untuk keluar
masuknya udara luar untuk melewati
lapisan gabus.
RAMBUT AKAR
Fungsi utama rambut akar adalah untuk
menghisap air atau zat hara dari dalam
tanah dan menyalurkannya ke bagian-
bagian tumbuhan. Rambut akar akan
mengambil oksigen yang terdapat pada
pori-pori tanah.
