Mechanical Engineering Review

All potential hazardous areas are fully protected by fixed perimeter guards, interlocked perimeter
1 guards or fully functional light curtain where applicable. NA

All transmission unit are protected by fixed guard, i.e. pulley, gear, couplings, conveyor belt,
2 flywheel, screw mechanism and rotating shaft.

Safeguards and warning signs prevent body parts from making contact with materials at high or
3 low temperatures, and also clearly labelled.

Safeguard prevents reaching over, under, around, or through; and openings in guards are small
4 enough to prevent access.

For machine equipped with light curtain, by-passing detection area is prevented.
5

For barriers guards, the height and position of the barrier complies with table from EN ISO 13857 or
equivalent country requirements (i.e., GB/T 23821 in China). Refer to slides #121 - 135 of
SGEHS_IMPLEMENTATION_GUIDE_Machinery_Safety_20220804. For example,
The height of the hazard zone, h, shall be 2 700 mm or more.
The height of the hazard zone, h, shall be 2 500 mm or more where both the severity of harm and
6 the probability of occurrence of harm caused by the hazard are low.
To prevent whole body access through an opening in a guard:
180 mm is the maximum size of a vertical or horizontal slot capable of preventing whole body
access to the hazard zone;
240 mm is the maximum size of a square or circular opening, capable of preventing whole body
access to the hazard zone.

Guards and safety devices are made of durable material that will withstand the conditions of
7 normal use.

Fixed guards are firmly secured to the machine with fasteners that require a tool for removal.
8

Safeguards are designed so as not to create hazards in and of themselves (e.g., shear point, pinch
9 point, jagged edge, etc.).

There is enough clearance provided around and between machines to allow for safe operations, set
10 up and servicing, material handling and waste removal.

Risks due to surfaces, edges or angles should be controled.

11

Potential energy of elastic elements (springs), or of liquids or gases under pressure or vacuum
12 should be controled.

All machines have the guards in place while operating.

13

Routine lubrication can be accomplished without removing the guarding.

14

Machines that are designed for a fixed location (i.e., not portable) are securely anchored to prevent
15 moving.

Electrical Engineering Review - Need Electrician Support 电气检查(需电工支持)

All terminals above 50 volts to be IP20 finger safe to prevent accidental contact.
16

Equipment will automatically shut down and prevented from making an uninitiated restart as the
17 result of a power loss or reduction in voltage.

Master disconnect capable of being locked –Out, electrical energy and all residual mechanical
18 sources to zero state.

Earthing all the enclosure, cable duct, machine body, and so on.
19

All control buttons are clearly marked as to function.

20

Make sure all the operator stations are equipped with E-stop (buttons, pull cord, etc.) .
21

Emergency Stop devices (buttons, pull cord, etc.) are conspicuous and easily accessible. E-Stop
22 buttons are red with yellow surround.

Safety Function Review

Test all interlocked doors for immediate reaction. Verify all dangerous movement parts are
23 stopped.
Test all light curtains, interrupt light curtain and check whether dangerous moving parts are
24 stopped.

ALL E-Stops function correctly. Verify all dangerous movement parts are stopped.
25

The performance level of all safety function should be evaluated. ( Supported by third party expert
26 assessment)

Before cleaning or maintenance, machine power and hazardous energies should be locked out and
27 tagged out.

Administrative Review
Machine safeguarding related operating instructions are referenced in Standard Operation
28 Procedures or equivalent.

Relevant operators have completed training on the existence functioning of applicable

29 safeguarding systems.

Loose fitting clothing and long hair are secured to prevent entanglement in machinery.
30

Inspection Review
Operators visually inspect all machinery and equipment before operating to verify that fixed guards
31 are in place.

Operators test Machine Safeguarding devices (light curtains,2-hand controls, interlocks, etc.) at the
32 beginning of each operating shift with a check sheet.
