What is Label?

Label is defined as a small piece of paper, fabric, plastic, or similar material attached to a product
and giving information about it.

Label adalah potongan kecil dari kertas, kain, plastik atau bahan lainnya yang dicantumkan pada
suatu produk dan memberikan informasi tentang produk tersebut.

From a label we will know about:

Dari sebuah label kita akan mengetahui tentang:

1. The brand of the product (Merek prodruk)

2. The name of the product (Nama produk)

3. Description (Deskripsi/keunggulan produk)

4. Content (isi/berat produk)

5. Ingredients (Komposisi)

6. Direction to use/ serving suggestion (saran penyajian)

7. Direction to store /store suggestion (saran penyimpanan)

8. Expiration date (tanggal kadaluarsa)

Why do we read a label before buying a product?

Mengapa kita membaca label sebelum membeli suatu produk?

1. To get detailed information of the product.(Untuk mendapatkan informasi rinci tentang

suatu produk.)
2. To avoid harmful effects (Untuk menghindari efek samping berbahaya.)
3. To choose healthy and safe product (Untuk memilih produk yang sehat dan aman.)
4. To get the best result (Untuk mendapatkan hasil terbaik.)

Ungkapan yang sering ditemukan di label adalah:

1. Kalimat perintah (Command)

V1 + O

Example:

- Shake before use!(Kocok sebelum digunakan!)

- Use the soft material!(Gunakan bahan lembut!)
- Store in a cool place (simpan di tempat yang sejuk)
- Keep refrigerated (simpan ditempat yang dingin/ kulkas)
- Consume within a day ( minum setelah dibuka)
2. Kalimat larangan (Prohibition)

Do not + V1 + O
 - Do not consume after expired date! (Jangan dikonsumsi setelah tanggal kadaluarsa!)
- Do not exceed the use by date ( jangan melampaui tangga kadaluarsa)

No + Ving + O

- No accepting if the seal broken!(Jangan diterima jika segel rusak.)

Example (contoh) :

A. The brand or name of the product : Bamboe Asia

B. Description : Sweet and Sour Sauce

C. Content : 80 g

D. Ingredients : water, tomato sauce, sugar, salt, onion, garlic, spices, acetic acid

E. Directions to use:

1. Dip meat of your choice in eggwhite and coat with cornflour.

2. Heat cooking oil in a work, deep fry meat for 4 minutes or until golden brown.

3. Saute cubed bellpeppers/chilli, onion with 2 tbsp oil for 2 minutes. Add bamboe sauce, pineapple,
and 100 ml water and bamboe sauce, stir well.

4. Serving: pour sauce on top of deep fried meat. Serve with rice.
