1. Klausa Nomina

Klausa nomina adalah klausa yang dapat menggantikan nomina atau frase nomina dalam suatu
kalimat. Perhatikanlah contoh-contoh berikut.

(a) I forget the title of the play.

I forget what the title of the play is.

(b) His remark is unfair.

What he remarked is unfair.
(c) This is his address.
This is where he lives.

Dari contoh-contoh tersebut dapat dilihat bahwa klausa nomina dapat berfungsi sebagai berikut.

a. Sebagai Objek

Dalam contoh (a), the title of the play adalah objek dan ini dapat diganti dengan klausa nomina
sebagai objek: what the title of title of play is.

Berikut adalah contoh-contoh lain sebagai objek :

who he is.

who(m) he gave the letter to.

whose umbrella this is.

I don't know where he is now.

why he didn't come.

how you can solve this.

Klausa nomina tersebut diawali dengan kata tanya, namun urutan dalam klausa nomina itu adalah
subjek + verba dan bukan webe+subjek seperti dalam kalimat tanya. Di samping itu, klausa nomina
sebagai objek dapat berbentuk klausa that seperti dalam contoh-contoh berikut.

that he would be late.

He told her that he loved her.

that she shouldn't worry.

b. Sebagai Subjek

Dalam contoh (b) subjek kalimat, His remark, dapat diganti dengan What he remarked. Klausa
nomina sebagai subjek juga dapat diawali dengan kata tanya lain atau dengan that.

Contoh

Why he refused the offer

How he got all that money

Who(m) they will choose is quite obvious.

That he is a liar

That she knows nothing about it

c. Sebagai Komplemen

Dalam contoh (c), his address adalah komplemen dan ini dapat di- ganti dengan where he lives.
Komplemen dipakai sesudah verba seperti be, seem, look dan become. Bentuk klausa ini sama
seperti bentuk klausa nomina sebagai objek dan subjek.

Contoh

what he said.

That was why he was dismissed.

when the accident happened.

that I was very cruel.

Her answer was that she felt sick.

that she didn't care.

subjek + verba dalam klausa nomina itu.
