ABSTRAK

Dalam penelitian ini didasar oleh guru masih menggunakan model pembelajaran
konvensional, yaitu guru hanya sebatas memberikan teori saja. Hal ini akan
membuat siswa jenuh dan bosan ketika guru hanya menggunakan metode ceramah
saja. Dalam proses pembelajaran tentunya membutuhkan kerjasama yang baik
antara guru dengan siswa sehingga tercipta suasana kelas seperti yang diharapkan.
Maka dari itu peneliti ingin menerapkan metode Word Square terhadap
keterampilan menulis teks berita siswa. Dengan tujuan ingin mengetahui apakah
metode Word Square berpengaruh secara signifikansi terhadap keterampilan
menulis teks berita siswa. Model pembelajaran word square merupakan model
yang berangkat dari pengembangan dari metode ceramah yang diperkaya dan
berorientasi kepada keaktifan peserta didik. Penelitian ini berjenis penelitian
kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini
adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII MTs Swasta AL Kautsar Panei Tongah tahun
pelajaran 2022/2023 yang berjumlah 173 orang. Dengan sampel penelitian ini
adalah siswa kelas VIII-B dan VIII-F yang berjumlah 66 orang siswa kelas VIII
MTs Swasta Al Kautsar Panei Tongah. Hasil analisis data dengan uji hipotetsis
diproleh bahwa thitung (18,32) > t tabel (1,693) pada taraf signifikansi a=0,05 dan
derajat kebebasan (df)= 32, maka Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Artinya terdapat
pengaruh metode word square yang signifikan pada keterampilan menulis teks
berita pada siswa kelas VIII di MTs S Al Kautsar Panei Tongah.

ABSTRACT
In this research based on the teacher still using conventional learning models,
namely the teacher is only limited to providing theory. This will make students
bored and bored when the teacher only uses the lecture method. In the learning
process, of course, requires good cooperation between the teacher and students so
as to create a classroom atmosphere as expected. Therefore the researcher wants
to apply the Word Square method to students' news writing skills. With the aim of
knowing whether the Word Square method has a significant effect on students'
news writing skills. The word square learning model is a model that departs from
the development of the lecture method which is enriched and oriented towards
student activity. This research is a quantitative research using experimental
methods. The population of this study were all class VIII students of Private MTs
AL Kautsar Panei Tongah for the 2022/2023 academic year, totaling 173 people.
The sample for this study were students of class VIII-B and VIII-F, totaling 66
students of class VIII at MTs Al Kautsar Panei Tongah. The results of data
analysis with the hypothesis test obtained that tcount (18.32) > t table (1.693) at a
significance level of a = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (df) = 32, then Ha is
accepted and Ho is rejected. This means that there is a significant effect of the
word square method on news text writing skills in class VIII students at MTs S Al
Kautsar Panei Tongah.
