Ungkapan Meminta Bantuan (Expression Asking for Help)

Definisi Asking for Help


Farah: “Aww..”

Well, guys, dari dialog di atas kita bisa lihat kalau
Farah lagi sakit dan butuh bantuan dari Anisa untuk mengambilkan obatnya di
tas. Nah, ungkapan dari Farah tadi termasuk salah satu contoh ungkapan
permintaan tolong atau asking for help. Ungkapan asking for help digunakan
saat kamu membutuhkan bantuan atau pertolongan dari orang lain. Salah
satu contoh asking for help yang bisa kamu gunakan adalah, “Could you
please…?”

Ungkapan asking for help ini dapat berbeda-beda dalam situasi formal dan informal.

Dalam situasi formal, saat kamu berbicara dengan orang yang kamu hormati

merespon orang yang meminta bantuan dalam bahasa Inggris, atau how to
response to someone who asking for help. Gimana ya caranya?

Ada beberapa ungkapan yang bisa kamu gunakan ketika ada seseorang yang
meminta tolong kepada kamu. Ungkapan ini bisa
berupa willingness atau accepting (kesediaan) atau declining (penolakan).

1. Contoh Respon Kesediaan (Willingness)

Untuk menunjukkan kesediaan atau kemauan kamu untuk menolong orang


lain, kamu bisa menggunakan beberapa ungkapan berikut ini.

2. Contoh Respon Penolankan (Declining)

Definisi Offering Help

Ketika ada seseorang yang menawarkan bantuan, sudah menjadi hak kamu
untuk menerima (accepting) atau menolak (declining) tawaran bantuan
tersebut. Bagaimana sih caranya merespon tawaran bantuan tersebut dengan
sopan? Lalu, bagimana juga caranya kamu menolak tanpa menyinggung
perasaan orang yang sudah berbaik hati menawarkan bantuan? Let’s take a

Perbedaan Asking for dan Offering Help


Walaupun sekilas terlihat mirip, ternyata ada perbedaan mendasar antara cara
meminta bantuan dan menawarkan bantuan dalam bahasa Inggris. Apa saja
bedanya?
Jawabannya adalah… keduanya menggunakan modal auxiliary yang
berbeda. Apa tuh modal auxiliary? Modal auxiliary adalah kata kerja bantu
yang digunakan untuk menambahkan arti pada kata kerja utama.
Pada kalimat asking for help dan offering help keduanya memang
menggunakan modal auxiliary yang sama, yaitu would you, could you, can you/I.
Walaupun sama, tapi polanya berbeda, lho. Simak perbedaanya di bawah ini.
