jasa (asking and offering help/service) dengan memperhatikan fungsi sosial, struktur teks,
dan unsur kebahasaan yang benar dan sesuai konteks dengan sopan, rasa ingin tahu, tanggung
jawab, displin selama proses pembelajaran, bersikap jujur, santun, percaya diri, dan aktif
serta mampu berkomukasi dan bekerjasama dengan baik.

Expression of asking and offering for help/service:
Asking and offering for help is one of the expression in English which states that we ask
and provide assistance to someone. Usually the asking or offering for help sentence starts
with modal auxiliaries, such as: can, may, will, shall, could, should, would.
Asking and offering for help expression purpose is to ask or offer assistance for someone
who is doing something politely. There are two kinds of expression; informal and formal.
Informal expressions are used when you talk with someone close to you and formal
expressions are used when you talk with someone are older or whose position is higher
than you. There are two kinds of expression response: accepting and refusing. If you want
to refuse someone’s asking/offering you have to refuse politely, and if you want to accept
someone’s asking/offering don’t forget to say “thank you” to them.
There are a few things that need to be considered in order to offer a help:
• Ask what you can do to help. Talk to your family member or your friend and ask them
what they most need help and offer you services. By offering before they ask you, you
are showing that you care about them.
• Listen. Often what people need is simply someone who wants to listen to with kindness
and without judgement. So, they will tell you about their problem.
• Do act. If you have already know what the problem is, do act to help them solve their
problem.
• The most important thing of offering helps is helping with all of your heart and soul.

Fungsi Sosial

Fungsi sosial dari asking and offering help/service adalah untuk membantu hubungan
interpersonal antara individu satu dengan yang lain. Dengan menawarkan bantuan
kepada keluarga atau teman, menunjukkan bahwa kita peduli terhadap orang-orang di
sekitar kita.

Menurut British Council, ketika menawarkan bantuan atau layanan, frasa yang umum
digunakan adalah modal verbs seperti can, could, dan would. Untuk menawarkan
bantuan atau layanan kepada seseorang dapat menggunakan kalimat formal atau
informal.

F. Making A dialogue Using Expression of Asking and Offering Help/Service

Task 1: Let’s write the dialogue of asking or offering help with your partner class by
using the following clues/situation and format!

1. Choose one of the following clues/situation to write the dialogue
