DEFINISI DAN JENIS
Jalan bebas hambatan didefinisikan sebagai jalan untuk lalu lintas
menerus dengan pengendalian jalan masuk secara penuh, baik
merupakan jalan terbagi ataupun tak-terbagi. Di Indonesia, definisi
ini pada masa ini sama artinya dengan 'jalan tol’.

Jalan bebas hambatan luar kota yang disajikan dalam ada dua tipe :
● - Dua-lajur dua-arah tak-terbagi (MW 2/2 UD)
● - Empat-lajur dua-arah terbagi (MW 4/2 D).

Segmen jalan bebas hambatan didefinisikan
sebagai suatu panjang jalan bebas hambatan:
• Di antara dan tak terpengaruh oleh simpang
susun dengan jalur penghubung, ke luar dan
masuk, dan
• Yang mempunyai karakteristik rencana
geometrik dan arus lalu lintas yang serupa
pada seluruh panjangnya.

 Geometrik

• Lebar jalur lalu lintas: kapasitas meningkat dengan

bertambahnya lebar jalur lalu lintas.
• Karakteristik bahu: kinerja pada suatu arus tertentu, akan
meningkat dengan bertambahnya lebar bahu.
• Ada atau tidak adanya median (jalan bebas hambatan terbagi
atau tak terbagi): median yang direncanakan dengan baik
meningkatkan kapasitas.
• Lengkung vertikal: makin pegunungan medannya, melalui
mana jalan bebas hambatan lewat, makin rendah kapasitas dan
kinerja pada suatu arus tertentu.
• Lengkung horisontal: Jalan bebas hambatan tak-terbagi dengan
Bagian lurus yang panjang,sedikit tikungan dan sedikit pundak-
bukit memungkinkan jarak pandang lebih panjang dan
penyalipan lebih mudah, memberikan kapasitas lebih tinggi.
• Pemisahan arah lalu lintas pada jalan bebas hambatan tak-terbagi: kapasitas adalah tertinggi pada jalan datar apabila pemisahan arah
adalah 50 - 50: yaitu bila arus sama pada kedua arah.
• Komposisi lalu lintas: jika arus dan kapasitas diukur dalam kend/jam, komposisi lalu lintas akan mempengaruhi kapasitas. Meskipun
demikian, dengan mengukur arus dalam satuan mobil penumpang (smp), seperti dalam manual ini, pengaruh ini telah diperhitungkan.

dan keahlian yang sesuai, pemakai manual ini sangat disarankan untuk mengukur parameter
kunci (misalnya kecepatan arus bebas dan kapasitas) pada sejumlah kecil lokasi yang mewakili di
dalam wilayah penelitiannya, dan untuk menerapkan faktor penyesuaian lokal pada kecepatan
arus bebas dan kapasitas jika nilai yang didapat sangat berbeda dari nilai yang didapat dengan
menggunakan manual ini.

-Lebar jalur lalu lintas 2 × 7,0 m -Lebar efektif bahu diperkeras 3,75m (lebar
bahu dalam 0,75 + lebar bahu luar 3,00) untuk
