pintalan benang yang dia gunakan jatuh. Karena malas
mengambil pintalan benang tersebut untuk beruang
kalinya, dia menggumam "Siapa yang bisa
mengambilkan pintalan benang tersebut, dia akan
menjadi suami ku." Tak tertuga, Tumang datang and
mengambil pintalan tersebut dan memberikannya ke
Dayang Sumbi. Tumang bukanlah anjing biasa. Legenda
mengatakan bahwa Tumang dulunya adalah Dewa yang
dikutuk dan dikirim ke bumi karena kesalahan yang dia
buat. Dayang Sumbi telah mengucap janji dan dia tahu
dia harus memenuhi janjinya, jika tidak, Dewa akan
marah. Dayang Sumbi dan Tumang pun akhirnya
menikah. Dan di hari pernikahannya, Tumang berubah
menjadi dirinya yang sebenarnya, Dewa dengan wajah
yang tampan. Singkat cerita, dari pernikahan tersebut,
mereka dikharuniahi seorang anak bernama
Sangkuriang.
