Noun clause

Noun clause adalah klausa depend (klausa yang tidak dapat berdiri sendiri sebagai kalimat
utuh) yang berfungsi sebagai Noun (Subject, Object, dll). Clause terdiri atas S dan P.

Contoh noun clause

“The car that I bought is very expensive”

“I know that the story is true”

“Can you imagine How old she is”

Jadi Rumus Noun Clause

 Noun clause dapat didahului berupa question word, if atau whether, dan that.

Contoh
What she cooked was delecious
I wanna know how He was in real

Khusus If/Whether biasanya digunakan untuk kalimat jawaban dari pertanyaan yes/no
question atau bentuk reported speech dari pertanyaan tersebut.
Contoh
Where does Andi live?
I wonder If He lives in Jakarta

Untuk that, That bisa direduksi. Tetapi untuk that yang berada diawal kalimat (subject),
tidak bisa direduksi.

That today is her birthay is not right

I think that the group will arrive at 5 p.m
I this that the group will arrive at 5 p.m

 Adjective Clause
Adjective clause adalah klausa yang digunakan sebagai adjective.
Sebagai adjective, adjective clause digunakan sebagai modifier yaitu untuk
menerangkan noun dan pronoun, tetapi tidak pernah digunakan sebagai object kalimat.
Adjective clause juga tidak dapat berdiri sendiri (dependent clause).

Adjective clause juga diawali oleh question word, dan that. Cara mudah mengingatnya,
Adjective clause selalu mengikuti Noun. Sehingga kita bisa membedakannya dengan Noun
clause dan adverb clause.

Contoh

This man who is standing at the door is my friend.

S P Noun Adj. Clause

Relative clause ada 2 jenis

1. Restrictive
dalam kalimat biasanya menggunakan that.
Contoh
I prefer to use smartphone that can capture a great picture.
N Adj. Clause

2. Non-restrictive
Biasanya menggunakan tanda koma (,) artinya tidak menggunakan question word atau
that.
Contoh
Marley, whose mom passed away 6 months ago, developed his business in UK

 Adverbial Clause
Adverb atau adverbial clause merupakan bentuk adverb dalam bahasa inggris yang berfungsi
untuk menjelaskan verb (kata kerja) ataupun adjective (kata sifat) dalam bahasa inggris. Intinya,
berada setelah Adjective atau Verb.

Adverbial clause merupakan dependent clause. Adverbial Clause didahului dengan subordinate
conjuction (after, because, when, though, although, etc).

Contoh

 As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.

 I was sleeping when he called me
 I am afraid because I can not leave this place
 my mom meets me because she misses me so much
 After the game has finished, the king and pawn go into the same box
