ABSTRACT
The aims of the study are to describe and explain about: (1) the text
structure of the collection Tart di Bulan Hujan short stories by Bakdi Soemanto;
(2) relevancies of the intrinsic element of the Tart di Bulan Hujan by Bakdi
Soemanto to the reality of real-life; (3) relevancies of the collection Tart di Bulan
Hujan short stories by Bakdi Soemanto as literary learning materials in High
School. The study is a descriptive qualitative study with genetic structuralism
approach. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The technique of data
collecting uses analysis of document technique and interview. The technique of
data validity uses triangulation theory and data sources. Technique of data
analysis uses interactive analysis.
The results of the study show that:(1) the text structure of the collection Tart di
Bulan Hujan short stories by Bakdi Soemanto consists of the theme, plot, setting,
character, and point of view. The six titles of the short stories studied had the
main theme about a social problem with advanced storylines in Bus Kolumbus
and Nisan then mixed storylines in Jari Telunjuk, Mata, Muhdom, and Tart di
Bulan Hujan. Meanwhile, almost all the characters in the short stories are tied to
everyday life with the support of various kinds of background descriptions. Then
the point of view used is the perspective of all-knowing third person; (2) there is
relevance between the collection of short stories Tart di Bulan Hujan with reality
in real life. The social reality in the collection of short stories can be seen from
three aspects: (a) irony and poverty; (b) corruption; and (c) social inequality. (3)
the collection of Tart di Bulan Hujan short stories can be used as literary learning
materials in High School according to Basic Competency (KD) 3.9 in grade XI
Curriculum 2013, which is analyzing elements of short story builders in a
collection of short stories.
