MOTIVASI
Istilah motivasi berasal dari kata motif yang dapat diartikan sebagai kekuatan dalam diri
individu yang menyebabkan individu tersebut bertindak atau berbuat.

● McDonald dalam Sardiman A.M. (2011:73) mengemukakan bahwa motivasi adalah perubahan
energi dalam diri seseorang yang ditandai dengan munculnya feeling dan didahului dengan
tanggapan terhadap adanya tujuan.
● Hamzah B. Uno (2010:10) berpendapat bahwa motivasi adalah dorongan internal dan eksternal
dalam diri seseorang untuk mengadakan perubahan tingkah laku. Motivasi mempelajari cara
mengarahkan daya dan potensi bahawan agar mau bekerja sama secara produktif sehingga
berhasil mencapai dan mewujudkan tujuan yang telah ditentukan.
● Malayu S.P. Hasibuan (2006:143) mendefinisikan motivasi sebagai pemberian daya penggerak
yang menciptakan kegairahan kerja seseorang agar mereka mau bekerja sama, bekerja efektif,
dan terintegrasi dengan segala daya upaya untuk mencapai kepuasan.
PENGERTIAN
Motivasi merupakan proses psikologis yang bersifat fundamental. Sangat sukar
menyanggah bahwa motivasi merupakan proses yang amat penting dalam
pemuasan berbagai kebutuhan dan menjamin berbagai kepentingan para anggota
organisasi. Motivasi sebagai inner state semacam perasaan atau kehendak yang
amat mempengaruhi kemauan individu, sehingga individu tersebut didorong
untuk berperilaku dan bertindak untuk menentukan Gerakan atau tingkah laku
individu terhadap tujuan (goals).
Malayu S.P. Hasibuan (2006:146) mengemukakan tujuan
motivasi yaitu sebagai berikut:
● Meningkatkan moral dan kepuasan kerja
● Meningkatkan produktivitas kerja karyawan
● Mempertahankan kestabilan karyawan perusahaan
● Meningkatkan disiplin karyawan
● Mengefektifkan pengadaan karyawan
● Menciptakan suasana dan hubungan kerja yang baik
● Meningkatkan loyalitas, kreativitas, dan partisipasi karyawan
● Meningkatkan kesejahteraan karyawan
● Mempertinggi rasa tanggung jawab karyawan terhadap tugas-tugasnya
● Meningkatkan efisiensi penggunaan alat-alat dan bahan baku
Hadari Nawawi (1996:359) mengemukakan fungsi motivasi
bagi manusia, yaitu:

Sebagai energi atau Pengatur memilih Pengatur arah atau tujuan

penggerak bagi manusia, alternatif di antara dua dalam melakukan
ibarat bahan bakar pada atau lebih kegiatan yang aktivitas
kendaraan bertentangan
 Ciri-ciri individu memiliki motivasi berprestasi di antaranya adalah:
