Amalan Pedagogi Dalam Pengajaran Dan Pembelajaran

Mata Pelajaran Kaji Daya Bahan (Kejuruteraan Mekanikal)

Kajian ini menumpukan tentang amalan pedagogi dalam pengajaran dan pem-
belajaran (P&P) mata pelajaran Kaji Daya Bahan (Kejuruteraan Mekanikal)
di kalangan pensyarah politeknik Malaysia. Kajian ini telah dijalankan di tiga
buah politeknik iaitu Politeknik Johor Bharu (PJB), Politeknik Kota Bharu
(PKB) dan Politeknik Port Dickson (PPD). Tujuan kajian ini ialah untuk men-
genal pasti sejauh mana amalan pedagogi yang dilaksanakan oleh pensyarah ke-
juruteraan mekanikal dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Responden
kajian dipilih secara rawak berkelompok yang terdiri daripada 200 orang pelajar
semester lima diploma kejuruteraan mekanikal di tiga buah politeknik tersebut.
Kajian ini adalah berbentuk kuantitatif dan instrumen kajian yang digunakan
adalah soal selidik bagi pengumpulan data. Data yang dikumpul dianalisis
menggunakan perisian Statistical Pakage For Science Social (SPSS) bagi men-
dapatkan nilai peratusan, skor min dan sisihan piawai. Dapatan kajian keselu-
ruhannya menunjukkan bahawa pensyarah telah mengamalkan aspek pedagogi
yang betul iaitu menggunakan kepelbagaian strategi dan pendekatan penga-
jaran, kaedah dan teknik pengajaran, berkemahiran dalam penggunaan alat ba-
han bantu mengajar (ABBM), membuat pengukuran dan penilaian serta mak-
lum balas dari segi pengukuhan, pemulihan dan penggayaan. Walau bagaimana
pun terdapat tiga aspek amalan pedagogi yang kurang diamalkan dalam proses
pengajaran dan pembelajaran iaitu strategi pengajaran pemusatan pensyarah,
kaedah lawatan dan kaedah pengajaran berpasukan. Akhir sekali, beberapa
cadangan disarankan kepada pensyarah, politeknik dan Kementerian Pengajian
Tinggi Malaysia bagi mempertingkatkan lagi keberkesanan amalan pedagogi
dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study that have been carried out focused on pedagogical practice in
teaching and learning for the subject of strength of material (Mechanical Engi-
neering) among lecturer Malaysia of Polytechnic. The research was conducted
in three polytechnic such as Polytechnic of Johor Bharu (PJB), Polytechnic of
Kota Bharu (PKB) and Polytechnic of Port Dickson (PPD). The subject of this
research is to investigate the application of pedagogical practice among Mechan-
ical Engineering lecturer in the teaching and learning process.The respondents
of these study were 200 randomly selected fifth semester students of the respec-
tive polytechnics who were pursuing diploma course in Mechanical Engineering.
This research is in a form of quantitative and the instrument for getting in-
formation was questionnaries. The sellected data was analysis using Statitical
Package For Social Science (SPSS) to getting percentage value, min score and
standard deviation. The overall result gained from this research, showed that
lecturers were practicing the correct pedagogical aspects such as teaching strat-
egy and approach, teaching method and technic, skills in using teaching tools,
to do measurement and evaluation and feedback from reinforcement, treatment
and enrichment. However, there are three aspects of pedagogical practice which
is less by the lecturers in teaching and learning process such as teacher cen-
tred teaching strategy, excursion method and team teaching method. Finally, a
few suggestions were made to the lecturers, polytechnic and authority Minister
Higher Education Malaysia to improve the effectiveness of pedagogical practice
in teaching and learning process.
