(Ba"#+ann Kno!$ he )achmann (also spelt )achman) is a friction hitch. It is useful %hen the friction hitch needs to be reset 2uickly5often or made to be self$tending as in crevasse and self$rescue. (See 6rusik knot) he )achmann re2uires the use of a carabiner. It does not matter if the carabiner is locking or not. !ost importantly( the carabiner must be of round cross section for friction. 7rabbing hold of the carabiner %ill release the friction and allo% the hitch to slide freely and thus be moved appropriately. o remove the )achmann( just unclip the top loop( hold onto the carabiner and pull the cord free. his knot is fre2uently tied using a sling made from 89 tubular %ebbing. In this case %rap the %ebbing : times around the rope (this means the carabiner gate must be opened : times in the tying of the knot) for normal (dry) applications . here are a limited number of applications that involve repeated shock loads to the knot and in these ; %raps are usually sufficient.

(S 1e* an H !"#$ Siberian 1itch (or <venk knot) is a knot used to attach a rope to an object. he hitch is thought to have originated from the <venk people of Siberia. It is a 2uick release hitch often used by =ay !ears during his bushcraft television series. he hitch is kno%n for the ease in %hich it can be tied even %hilst %earing gloves or mittens in cold climates. his hitch is also slipped and therefore can be released by pulling the short end of the rope. It consists basically of three loops. he first is made by looping the rope around the object to %hich it is to be attached (leaving enough length of rope at the end). In the end is then made a loop( %hich is given a half t%ist and bent around the main rope. he remaining end is then looped again and bent around the other side of the main rope and inserted into the previous loop. his is a structural description. here are also -shortcuts- to this( as sho%n in the e+ternal link.
