1. Comparative Degree (Adjective)

Adjective mengalami perubahan bentuk ketika digunakan sebagai perbandingan.

One syllable (satu suku kata)

Adjective yang terdiri dari satu suku kata I am easier to forget a problem than she is.
ditambahkan suffix (akhiran) –er. Biasanya (Saya lebih mudah melupakan suatu masalah daripada dia.)
terjadi double huruf consonant diujung kata
pada kata yang berpola huruf diujung:
consonant-vocal-consonant.

Contoh:
 big-bigger
 fat-fatter
 hard-harder
 hot-hotter The student is quicker to learn English than her friend.
 smart-smarter (Siswa tersebut lebih cepat belajar bahasa Inggris daripada
 quick-quicker temannya.)

Namun jika adjective berasal dari past

participle, lebih sering digunakan
kata more(lebih banyak) atau less (lebih
sedikit) didepanadjective tersebut.

Contoh:
 bored-more bored, The worker seemed more tired than the other.
 tired-more tired (Pekerja tersebut tampak lebih lelah dari yang lain.)

More than one syllable (lebih dari satu suku kata)

Adjective yang lebih dari satu suku kata, This park looks more beautiful than the other park.
ditambahkan kata more atau didepannya. (Taman ini tampak lebih cantik daripada taman yang lain.)

He’s more interested in gardening than I am.

Contoh:
(Dia lebih tertarik berkebun daripada saya.)

 dilligent-more dilligent The topic is more interesting than the last one.

Pada two syllables yang ber-ending -y, Today is cloudier than yesterday

huruf “y” tersebut direduksi kemudian (Hari ini lebih mendung dari kemarin.)
ditambahkansuffix –ier.

 2. Pengertian Superlative Degree
Superlative adalah nama yang diberikan untuk grammar yang digunakan untuk membandingkan tiga
atau lebih orang, benda, atau hal.

Contoh Kalimat Superlative Degree:

He is the most dilligent student in my class.
1 (Dia siswa paling rajin di kelas saya.)

My brother is the fattest  in our family.

Regular Form

Baik adjective maupun adverb mengalami perubahan bentuk ketika digunakan sebagai

perbandingan. Pada regular form, perubahan bentuk adjective mengikuti pola tertentu.

ditambahkan – est. Biasanya (Saya paling tinggi diantara teman-teman.)
