Pembuatan paip adalah proses pembuatan dan pembuatan sistem paip yang telah
dirancang untuk pelbagai kegunaan. Walaupun fabrikasi tukang paip dan paip sama dalam
menangani paip, Fabrikasi Paip biasanya digunakan di sektor dan penggunaan besar seperti di
kilang minyak, pengairan kediaman, HVAC (Pemanasan, Pengudaraan & Penyejuk Udara),
saluran paip pemadam kebakaran, firma pembinaan mekanikal, kilang kimia , loji tenaga nuklear,
loji gas, hospital, syarikat farmaseutikal, galangan kapal, loji semikonduktor dan lain-lain.
Personel Paip Fabrikasi sangat penting tepatnya di syarikat minyak dan gas untuk
pemasangan dan penyelenggaraan paip. Mereka adalah sebahagian dari kru perpaipan di syarikat
minyak dan gas yang bertanggung jawab dalam memastikan dan memeriksa kerusakan atau
kerosakan sistem paip.
Pada masa kini, Globalisasi membantu kita dalam kepelbagaian ekonomi dunia. Ini
mengurangkan halangan tegas dan menjadikan penyatuan ekonomi antarabangsa. Orang-orang
selama ini bebas untuk memasarkan atau mengkomersialkan diri dari segi kemahiran,
pengetahuan, pengalaman, produk dan perkhidmatan yang mereka miliki. Oleh itu, kakitangan
Piping Fabrication berpeluang bekerja di luar negara apabila mereka dilatih secara beransur-
ansur dan cemerlang dengan kemahiran mereka.
Oleh kerana Malaysia juga menghasilkan minyak dan gas, banyak syarikat dan organisasi
kini aktif dalam eksplorasi minyak, R&D (Penyelidikan & Pembangunan), pengekstrakan dan
operasi. Terdapat juga kakitangan sokongan yang aktif yang terinspirasi dan berminat untuk
bekerja dalam pembuatan paip (Pipefitter).
Oleh itu, dokumen Standard Kemahiran Pekerjaan Nasional (NOSS) ini disusun dan
dikembangkan agar dapat digunakan untuk menghasilkan tenaga mahir dan berpengalaman
dalam pekerjaan atau kecekapan yang ditentukan ini.
Dalam tahap 3 NOSS ini, personel akan mempunyai kemampuan untuk mentafsirkan
lukisan Isometrik, mentadbir dan memantau aktiviti kerja fabrikasi paip seperti penyediaan
bahan, pemotongan, pemasangan dan lain-lain. Personel juga dapat memperoleh banyak
kemahiran teknikal melalui tahap NOSS ini.
