WHAT IS RECOUNT TEXT?

Recount Text adalah sebuah teks Bahasa inggris yang menceritakan tentang kegiatan atau
kejadian atau pengalaman yang terjadi di masa lampau. Biasanya teks tersebut menceritakan
tentang pengalaman.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF RECOUNT TEXT?

Tujuan recount text secara umum yaitu menceritakan atau menyampaikan informasi
tentang sebuah peristiwa yang terjadi di masa lampau.

WHAT IS GERNERIC SRUCTURE OF RECOUNT TEXT?

Recount Text. Secara teori, memiliki generic structure sebagai berikut:

1. ORIENTATION

2. EVENT

3. REORIENTATION
1. ORIENTATION menceritakan latar belakang tentang siapa dimana dan
kapan peritiwa itu terjadi.
2. EVENT merupakan serangkaian peristiwa yang terjadi sesuai urutan
Kronologis.
3. REORIENTATION  merupakan penutup atau kesimpulan cerita, untuk
menutup suatu cerita kita bisa memberikan opini kita mengenai certa tersebut.

CIRI – CIRI KEBAHASAAN RECOUNT TEXT

Ada beberapa karakteristik atau ciri-ciri khusus Recount Text, yaitu:

 Menggunakan past tense atau bentuk lampau . yang menggunakan tobe (was, were)
atau kata kerja ke 2 contoh : went, visited, ate, spent, brought, took, dll
 Menggunakan adverb dan adverbial phrase untuk menjelaskan waktu, tempat dan
cara. Seperti: last month, in Malang, lately, dll.
 Menggunakan conjunction ( kata penghubung )dan time connctive untuk
mengurutkan peristiwa dan kejadian seperti: next, later, when, then, after, before,
first, after that dll
JENIS – JENIS RECOUNT TEXT

 Secara umum Recount Text dibagi menjadi beberapa jenis yang didasarkan pada tujuan.

Ada 3 jenis recount text yang memiliki tujuan berbeda, yaitu sebagai berikut;

1. Personal Recount Text

Personal Recount Text merupakan sebuah recount text yang memiliki tujuan untuk
menceritakan kembali atau memberikan informasi mengenai pengalaman penulis secara
pribadi di masa lampau.

2. Factual Recount Text

Factual recount text sendiri memiliki tujuan untuk menjelaskan atau menceritakan sebuah
kejadian yang terjadi secara faktual atau nyata. Contoh factual recount text yaitu banjir,
gempa yang telah terjadi.

3. Imaginative Recount Text

Imaginative Recount Text merupakan jenis recount text yang mempunyai tujuan imajinatif,
dengan kata lain, si penulis menceritakan peristiwa atau pengalamannya di masa lalu secara
imajinasi. Contoh penulis meneritakan mimpinya

CONTOH RECOUNT TEXT PENDEK

A Trip to the Zoo

Yesterday my family and I went to the zoo to see the elephant and other animal. When we got
to the zoo, we went to the shop to buy some food to give to the animals.

After getting the food we went to the nocturnal house where we saw birds and reptiles which
only come out at night.

Before lunch we went for a ride on the elephant. It was a thrill to ride it. Dad nearly fell off
when he let go of the rope. During lunch we fed some birds in the park. In the afternoon we
saw the animals being fed.

When we returned home we were tired but happy because we had so much fun.

Read the text carefully and then answer the questions below!

1. Who went to the zoo?

2. What did the writer go to the zoo for?

 3. What did the writer see in nocturnal house?

4. What did the writer do before lunch?

5. How did the writer feel when they went home?

My Bad Day on Sunday

I had a terrible day yesterday.

First, I woke up an hour late because my alarm clock didn’t go off. Then, I was in such a
hurry that I burned my hand when I was making breakfast. After breakfast, I got dressed so
quickly that I forgot to wear socks.

Next, I ran out of the house trying to get the 9:30 bus, but of course I missed it. I wanted to
take a taxi, but I didn’t have enough money.

Finally, I walked the three miles to my school only to discover that it was Sunday!
I hope I never have a day as the one I had yesterday.
