1. Ascending bid auctions (English Auction)

In this type of auction, the auctioneer starts the auction using the lowest price received (limit price)
and offers to the bidders by increasing (ascending) to the point where no bidder increases his bid
value and the bidder with the highest value is determined as buyer. This type of auction is known and
widely used in England, so it is also called English Auction or often referred to as an open out-cray
auction, because the auctioneer is always shouting in carrying out his duties.
Descending bid auctions (Dutch Auction)
Dutch Auction is the opposite of English Auction, because the bidding is done by descending
(descent). The auction buyer who first bids the price acceptable to the seller is determined as the
winner. The name dutch auction was taken because this type of auction has traditionally been used for
a long time in flower markets in the Netherlands.
2. The continued decline in the rupiah exchange rate will lead to an increase in the rate of inflation by
increasing production costs, especially for production using imported raw materials. In the end, Bank
Indonesia had to take the tough choice of raising interest rates again in order to curb the rising
inflation rate in Indonesia, and providing a stimulus to increase the rupiah.
3. Market failure occurs because of demand (demand), but not supply can meet the existing demand, and
vice versa. Market failure can be caused by several things, namely:
a. The existence of a monopoly or monopsony,
b. Both positive and negative externalities,
c. imperfect domestic factors,
d. Government Failure,
e. Recession,
f. Crisis,
g. Inflation,
h. Unemployment,
i. Income distribution, and
j. public goods.
Some examples of market failures that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic include: First, from
the health sector, where the government is still unable to meet the need for Personal Protective
Equipment and Masks for medical personnel.
 Second, from the transportation sector, where transportation is a public good, its operating hours must
be limited, so that it does not provide benefits to the wider community.
Third, from the trade sector, where inflation occurred for some imported materials, especially basic
necessities that experienced inflation, for example, sugar, which experienced quite drastic inflation to
reach Rp 18,011/kg from the original price of Rp 13,000/kg.
Even at the beginning of the first case in Indonesia, there was already a crisis caused by Panic Buying.
People flocked to buy masks, hand sanitizers, and disinfectants in large quantities, resulting in a crisis
or scarcity of these items.
Lastly, from the MSME sector, because there are restriction policies or restrictions on economic and
social activities (due to Social and Physical Distancing), thereby reducing people's purchasing power
because people spend more time at home.
4. Advantages of Companies using Outsourcing Services
a. Reduce recruitment burden- By using the services of an outsourcing service provider, there is no
need to bother about recruiting new employees.
b. Save costs on training new employees – Companies that use outsourcing services accept
employees who already have the required skills, so there is no need to do more training.
c. Focus on business – If recruitment and training matters no longer burden the company, then the
company can focus more on running its business.
