SOAL NO 2
Scientists found fossilised bones from the biggest parrot that ever lived. It was a
metre tall and weighed around eight kilograms. The fossils were in New Zealand. Researchers
called the parrot Hercules. They studied the leg bones and said Hercules was twice the size of all
other parrots. The largest parrot scientists know about is the kakapo. This is a flightless bird that
still lives in New Zealand, but is critically endangered.
New Zealand is famous for its birds. The kiwi is its national symbol. Kiwis could
become endangered if their environment does not change. The 3.6-metre-tall moas also came
from New Zealand. These flightless birds were the biggest birds that ever lived. They became
extinct 600 years ago. Hercules lived 19 million years ago. It ate nuts, fruit and seeds, and
perhaps even other parrots. A researcher said, "There are many more unexpected species yet to
be discovered."

JAWABAN
SOAL NO 3
(1) A fable is a story that is written by a wise author to tell a lesson. Long ago, people
wrote many fables. They wrote them to help other people learn. For example, “The Tortoise and
The Hare” is a fable. (2) This fable tells people it is not wise to show off. It is wise to work hard.
Most fables have animals in them. The animals talk. Of course, in real life an animal
can’t talk. But in the fables, they do. The animals often do foolish things. For example, in one
fable there is a crow. The crow wants to get a delicious fruit. It takes it from a garden. And it gets
it. But then as the crow soars it shows off. It opens its mouth to shout, “Look, I got the best fruit.”
(3) But of course, the crow loses the fruit. It falls out of its mouth because it opened its mouth to
shout.
Fables have a moral. A moral is the lesson it teaches. (4) The fable about the crow
makes an important point. It tells you that people should be careful. It tells you that the crow was
foolish.
There is another fable about the ant and the grasshopper. The grasshopper played all
summer while the ant toiled. The ant got ready for winter. The ant was a hard worker. (5) It dug a
hole to stay in during winter. It carried food to that hole. When winter came, the ant was able to live. The
grasshopper did not have any food. It had no place to stay. Winter was a great challenge
for the grasshopper. It asked the ant for help. The ant was generous. The ant did help the
grasshopper. (6) The grasshopper learned a lesson. So did everyone who read the fable

SOAL NO 4
(1) Mickey Mouse, which is short for Mitchell Mouse, is a cartoon character who has
become an icon for the Walt Disney Company. It was created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub
Iwerks and voiced by Walt Disney.
The first appearance of Mickey Mouse was in Plane Crazy on May 15, 1928. But the
Walt Disney Company celebrates Mickey Mouse birth as November 18, 1928 upon the release of
Steamboat Willie, because it is the first Mickey Mouse Cartoon with sound. Mickey Mouse has
developed along the years. He first appeared in color in 1935. The first Technicolor Disney film
was Flowers and Trees from 1932. (2) He also changed from being simply a character in
animated cartoons and comic strips to become one of the most recognizable symbols in the
world.
Mickey's popularity has grown around the world. This was due to his nice nature.
Mickey never does anything immoral. (3) However, in 2009 the Walt Disney Company announced
that they will begin to rebrand the Mickey Mouse character. (4) The rebranding was done by
moving away from his pleasant, cheerful image and reintroducing the imperfect side of his
personality, starting with the upcoming Epic Mickey, a Mickey Mouse video game.
