Roro Jonggrang
Once upon a time there was a king named Prabu Boko who reigned in
Prambanan. Prabu Boko is a giant Galaxy. He has a daughter named Roro Jonggrang.
The king was killed in a fierce battle by the minister of the King of Pengging, who fought
with a magic weapon called ‘Bandung’. For this reason, he was known as ‘Bandung
Bandawasa’.
Not long afterwards, Bandung Bandawasa decided to marry Princess Roro
Jonggrang, the daughter of his victim. But she had no desire to marry the murderer of
her father, so she sought the advice of the Patih.
The Patih made a wise suggestion. Bandung would have to build a thousand
temples and two deep weels. If he managed to complete all this in the course of one
night, he could marry the princess. Bandung knew two people possessing magic powers
who promised to help him. one was his father, “Damarmaya”, and the other was
mighty King of Pengging. A date was fixed and in the evening, Bandung’s followers
began their giant construction job. Five hundred temples were completed by midnight.
Roro Jonggrang sent a man to watch the progress of Bandung’s work and by four
o’clock in the morning he saw that nine hundred and ninety five temples were already
built and to deep wells nearly finished. The whole palace was filled with sadness,
because the Princess would have to marry the man who had murdered her father.
Again the Patih had an idea. He woke up all the young girls and ordered them to
pond rice at once. When the workers heard the pounding of rice and smelt the flowers,
which were the signs of dawn they stopped their work. Bandung Bandawasa was glad
to see the temples before him and counted them himself. But to his surprise, there
were only 999 temples.
He soon learned the reason of his failure and became very angry. Roro
JOnggrang herself was changed into a statue, which stands in the great inner hall of the
largest temple and is now know as, “The Temple of Roro Jonggrang’.
A long time ago, there were two animals, Sura and Baya. Sura was the name of a shark
and Baya was a crocodile. They lived in a sea.
Once Sura and Baya were looking for some food. Suddenly, Baya saw a goat.
"No way! This is my lunch. You are greedy" said Sura. Then they fought for the goat.
After several hours, they were very tired.
Feeling tired of fighting, they lived in the different places. Sura lived in the water and
Baya lived in the land. The border was the beach, so they would never fight again.
One day, Sura went to the land and looked for some food in the river. He was very
hungry and there was not much food in the sea. Baya was very angry when he knew
that Sura broke the promise.

The octopus, the squid and the cuttlefish fit in with the
same family that has no outside shells. Their bodies are secured
totally with skin. Along these lines the assortment of an octopus

one arms to the tip of another. It can weigh as much as 45
kilograms.

Fruits
Fruits are a source of nourishing substances that keep us alive and healthy. For
example, they contain many vitamins, especially vitamins A and C, and many minerals,
such as calcium, potassium, and zinc. They also provide fiber for a healthy digestive
system and carbohydrates that the body needs to make energy. They don’t have a lot
of calories to make us fat.
People use fruits for many things. We make juices from them. We cook bread
and pie with them. We make jams and jellies and sweets. We freeze them to eat later.
We even make alcohol from fruit. Beer comes from grains, wine comes from grapes,
and some brandies are made from plums, apricots, or other fruits.
But most of the time, we don’t do anything special with fruits. We eat them
fresh, just as they are!

Coconuts
Coconut is a common name for the fruit of a tree in the palm family. It is
classified as Cocos Nucifera. People usually call the tree as coconut palm. Coconut palm
trees grow well in tropical countries. They grow especially on san soil.
The trees can grow up to 30 m high. They have a cylindrical trunk. At the top of
the trunk, there is a crown of leaves. The leaves are long, about 3 to 4,5 m long.
The fruit grows in clusters. In one cluster, there about 5 to 20 coconuts. The fruit
is oval and about 30 cm long. It has a thick husk and hard shell. Inside the shell there
white oily fresh. Inside the shell, there is also sweet fluid.
Coconut is high in sugar. It also contains a lot of fat, protein, and vitamin. The
young coconut water can be a very refreshing drink which contains a lot of minerals.
