Meaning
Announcement is an official notification about something, whether written or spoken which presented
to public.
(Announcement adalah pengumuman secara resmi tentang sesuatu, baik itu secara tulisan
ataupun lisan yang disampaikan kepada publik)
atau
Announcement atau pengumuman adalah pernyataan yang berisikan informasi tentang
peristiwa atau event yang akan terjadi untuk diketahui masyarakat
umum. Announcement dibuat dengan tujuan untuk mengumumkan suatu informasi penting
yang harus diketahui oleh orang banyak.

Social Function of Announcement Text

Social function of announcement text is to make a formal written notice of certain events which
has happened or going to happen.

tertulis tentang kegiatan yang terjadi atau akan terjadi)

The structure of announcement text is:

A.Opening usually contain purpose or the name of event.

(Opening biasanya berisikan tujuan atau nama dari kegiatan)
Content usually contain day, date, time and place of event. Can also have additional
explanation if needed.
(Konten biasanya berisikan hari, tanggal, waktu dan tempat kegiatan. Dapat pula berisikan
tambahan informasi apabila dibutuhkan)
Closing usually contain contact person.
(Closing biasanya berisikan contact person atau nomor yang dapat dihubungi)
Opening

Opening merupakan bagian pembuka pada teks announcement.

Bagian opening berisi judul serta tujuan dibuatnya pengumuman tersebut atau garis
besar informasi yang akan disampaikan dalam pengumuman tersebut. Pada
contoh announcement di atas, bagian opening-nya berisi informasi bahwa Ruang
School akan mengadakan Online Art Competition 2021.

Content

Selanjutnya, yaitu bagian content. Content merupakan bagian isi pada

teks announcement. Bagian content berisi informasi lengkap mengenai hal yang ingin
disampaikan kepada khalayak umum melalui pengumuman tersebut. Misalnya mau
mengumumkan suatu event, berarti bagian content-nya akan berisi tentang waktu dan
tempat pelaksanaan acara, hingga ketentuan lain mengenai acara,
misalnya dresscode yang harus dikenakan atau persyaratan yang harus dibawa. Pada
contoh announcement di atas, bagian content-nya berisi informasi lengkap
mengenai Online Art Competition 2021, mulai dari cabang lomba yang tersedia hingga
waktu pelaksanaan lomba.

Closing

Terakhir, yaitu bagian closing. Closing merupakan bagian penutup pada

teks announcement. Bagian closing berisi informasi mengenai contact person yang bisa
dihubungi terkait pengumuman tersebut apabila pembaca butuh informasi lebih lanjut.
Pada bagian ini, kamu bisa juga mencantumkan website atau social media dari event yang
diumumkan. Pada contoh announcement di atas, bagian closing-nya berisi informasi
halaman website untuk mendaftar lomba, serta contact person yang bisa dihubungi terkait
lomba.

Umumnya, ada beberapa hal yang dapat digunakan sebagai topik utama dari sebuah
announcement, yaitu:

Cancellation of JYJ Concert in Singapore

Dear Fans and Media,

This is an official announcement to inform everyone that we have just been notified by CJes
Entertainment, the artist of JYJ that they have decided to cancel JYJ World Tour Concert in
Singapore which is scheduled on 23 April 2011 at Singapore Indoor Stadium. It is with utmost
regret that we have to accept this cancellation notice from the artist agency at this point in time.
We have submitted the final plans for stage, seating and ticketing for the agency’s approval so
as to proceed with the official announcement ticket sale. These plans are in accordance with the
regulations required by the authorities in Singapore and the budget allocated for the concert. It
is most unfortunate that the plans are not approved by CJes and their decision is to cancel the
concert.
We respect the agency’s decision and, with great regret, we are unable to change their mind but
to accept this unforeseen circumstance that is beyond our control. We understand the
disappointment as well as the inconvenience caused due to the cancellation and we sincerely
apologise – especially to the fans of JYJ.
