Contoh:
Ar(H) = 1.01
Ar(O) = 16.00
Contoh:
Tentukan Mr (H2O)
Mr (H2O) = 2 x Ar(H) + Ar(O) = 2 x 1.01 + 16.00 = 18.02
Limiting reaktan
Ekses
Jika jumlah NaOH ditambah 2 kali lipat (0.5 x 2 = 1mol),
jumlah Na2SO4 yang terbentuk juga lebih banyak 2 kali
lipat.
Jika jumlah H2SO4 (sudah dalam keadaan ekses) yang
ditambah, maka jumlah Na2SO4 yang terbentuk tidak akan
berubah.
Contoh lain:
Logam magnesium (100 g) dipanaskan dengan 100 g massa
atom P sampai reaksi selesai. Tentukan massa dari komposisi
produk akhirnya!
1. Tentukan mol Mg dan P mula-mula
Ø n(Mg) = 4.114 mol
Ø n(P) = 3.229 mol
2. Cek koefisien stoikiometri
Ø Berdasarkan koefisien stoikiometrinya, 2 mol P bereasi
dengan 3 mol Mg, sehingga 3.229 mol P bereaksi dengan
3.229 x 3/2 = 4.844 mol Mg.
Tapi hanya tersedia 4.114 mol Mg, sehingga Mg adalah
limiting rekatannya, sedangkan P jumlahnya berlebih/ekses.
dengan massa:
0.0441 mol x 2 x 35.45 g mol-1 ≈ 3.13 𝑔
𝑝𝑉 = 𝑛𝑅𝑇
𝑀 𝑔𝑎𝑠 = 𝑅𝐷 × 𝑀 𝑢𝑑𝑎𝑟𝑎
= 0.0697 × 29.0 𝑔 𝑚𝑜𝑙 #$ ≈ 2.02 𝑔 𝑚𝑜𝑙 #$
H2
Densitas relatif bisa dihitung tidak hanya untuk satu jenis gas, tapi
juga bisa digunakan untuk campuran gas.
Contoh:
Tentukan komposisi molar campuran hidrogen dan nitrogen
dengan densitas relatif terhadap udara adalah 0.300.
Sebagai basis diambil 1 mol H2 dan x mol N2,
Massa dari gas-gas tersebut menjadi:
𝑚!! = 𝑛×𝑀 = 1 𝑚𝑜𝑙 × 2.02 g 𝑚𝑜𝑙 #$ = 2.02 g
Starting with 3.60 moles of CO, calculate the number of moles of CO2 produced if there is enough oxygen
gas to react with all of the CO.
7. Ammonia is a principal nitrogen fertilizer. It is prepared by the reaction between hydrogen and nitrogen.
In a particular reaction, 6.0 moles of NH3 were produced. How many moles of H2 and how many moles of
N2 were reacted to produce this amount of NH3?
8. Consider the combustion of butane (C4H10):
In a particular reaction, 5.0 moles of C4H10 are re- acted with an excess of O2. Calculate the number of
moles of CO2 formed.
9. Propane (C3H8) is a component of natural gas and is used in domestic cooking and heating.
a) Balance the following equation representing the combustion of propane in air:
b) How many grams of carbon dioxide can be produced by burning 3.65 moles of propane? Assume that
oxygen is the excess reagent in this reaction.
10. Consider the reaction
If 0.86 mole of MnO2 and 48.2 g of HCl react, which reagent will be used up first? How many grams of Cl2
will be produced?
