to describe a particular person, place or thing.

- Identification : Pengenalan subyek
- Description : menggambarkan bagian- bagian,
keadaan, sifat dll.
5. News Items
Communicative Purpose (Tujuan )
to inform readers, listeners or viewers about events of the
day which are considered news worthy or important.

a. Newsworthy event: Kejadian/peristiwa inti
b. Background Events : latar belakang yang meliputi
elaborasi kejadian orang yang terlibat, tempat
kejadian dsb.
c. Source : Sumber informasi yang meliputi komentar
saksi, pendapat para pihak terkait dsb.
6. Report

Communicative Purpose (Tujuan )

to describe the way things are, with reference to a range of
natural, man-made and social phenomena in our environment.

 General Classification: pernyataan umum yang
menerangkan subjek laporan, keterangan, dan klasifikasinya
 Description : deskripsi yang meliputi bagian,kualitas,
kebiasaan atau tingkah laku (untuk mahluk
hidup); kegunaan (untuk benda).
7. Exposition

a. Analytical Exposition
Communicative Purpose : to persuade the reader or listener that
something is the case.

Generic structure (Struktur Teks)

a. Thesis : pernyataan pendapat penulis

b. Arguments : terdiri atas point dan elaboration

* Point : menyatakan kembali alasan utama yang
disampaikan pada preview.
* Elaboration : mengembangkan dan mendukung setiap
alasan

c. Conclusion/Reiteration : Pernyataan kembali pendapat/posisi

penulis.
 Hortatory Exposition

Communicative Purpose : to persuade the reader or listener

that something is should or should not be in the case.

a.Thesis : Pernyataan tentang isu yang
dipersoalkan.

b. Arguments : alasan adanya keperihatinan

dan mengarah kepada rekomendasi.

c. Recommendation : pernyataan tentang

bagaimana seharusnya atau tidak seharusnya.

• Analytical exposition:
Purpose : to reveal to the readers that something is the
important case.

(penegasan)

• Hortatory exposition:
Purpose : to persuade the readers that something should or
should not be done

to share with others a real story of which the ending is funny to
amuse the audience or readers.
