Hubungan Moderasi dan Toleransi
Moderasi agama adalahsikap untuk menjadikan agama sebagai dasar dan prinsip untuk selalu bersikap adil dan seimbang atau
dalam kata lain mencari jalan tengah guna menghindarkan dari sifat keekstreman atau radikalisme yang bertujuan untuk menyatukan
seluruh elemen masyarakat dalam beragama demi terciptanya kehdupan yang aman, nyaman, dan damai.

Toleransi adalah sikap saling menghargai kepada sesama manusia tanpa memandang golongannya.toleransi dalam konteks ini
adalah sikap keterbukaan untuk mendengar pandangan yang berbeda, toleransi berfungsi secara dua arah yakni mengemukakan
pandangan dan menerima pandangan dalam batas-batas tertentu namun tidak merusak keyakinan agama masing-masing.

Moderasi beragama dengan toleransi atau toleran adalah pembahasan yang tidak bias dipisahkan. dari berbagai materi yang telah
dibahas dapat disimpulkan bahwa moderasi beragama adalah proses sedangkan toleransi adalah buahnya atau hasilnya (outcome) jika
moderasi diterapkan.

Toleransi Aktif dan Toleransi Pasif

Toleransi aktif adalah toleransi yang sifatnya dinamis atau nyata yang mana dengan toleransi mampu mewujudkan kerja samasama untuk tujuan
bersama sebagai satu bangsa. Setiap penganut agama saling mengakui eksistensi agama lain dan mengakui hak asasi pemeluknya. Dalam
pergaulannya, setiap umat beragama pasti akan menampakkan sikap saling menghargai dan saling mengerti meskipun agama yang dianut berbeda.

Toleransi pasif adalah sikap menerima perbedaan sebagai sesuatu yang bersifat faktual. Artinya toleransi yang sifatnya statis, toleransi pasif tidak
memunculkan suatu kerja sama antar umat beragama. Kerukunan yang tercipta hanyalah bersifat semu dan teoritis. Dalam pergaulannya toleransi pasif
sangat dipengaruhi rasa saling curiga dan berprasangka.
